I can't leave anything well enough alone
I for one am waiting for more details to emerge on the steering setup. I spoke with JD fab on Friday, heard they are looking into some other things and possibly changing up the steering support some.

Thanks for the pictures and descriptions and pointers. Do you happen to remember the actual height and width (not advertised dimensions) on those tires? Look big. Also are those -10 or -38mm Ray 10's? What you have done is more than what is customary for most. Not sure if because others are actually running smaller 315s, or narrower, or have more caster, or have a larger bumpstop, or what.

We will see, my tires are 35x10.5 Kenda's. 8" rim, 4.5 backspace. It is a heavy expedition rig for a family of 4, sees a lot of highway time too. I guess I do expect to have to shim the superbumps to limit some up travel even though I will try a test without... Even still, some front upper rubbing at stuff/lock is not too bad if the metal is smooth and not catching the tire. I'm OK with that, the front ARB helps with traction when I don't have max articulation anyway. Even thinking of putting the sway bar back on. Also OK with hammering the backside pretty good, as well as the battery tray in strategic areas, but not into a full blown tub and fabricated sheet metal kind of clearance job. Not looking to overcome the most challenging obstacles at all costs, I'm ok with taking a bypass or using a winch, so I would say I am not "wheeling" like you all. Gotta remember that wife and kids are in the truck...and the goal is a good weekend of camping and exploration. I guess we will see if I can get it to clear enough to be happy and call it a day.

Tire comes out to 34.5" mounted. Not sure of the width, wasn't too concerned with it. My Ray 10s are the 4.5" backspace and I've got 1.75" wheel spacers, different conversation but the same subject.

If you're running the 10.5" you may be okay. From my understanding a lot of the issue comes from the width. It'll be interested to see how it works out for you. Again, I'm not saying everyone HAS to do this amount of work to fit a 35. My truck is a special circumstance and I don't want to deal with any rubbing when wheeling. I'm willing to cut to not have it. We'll see how it works out. The remaining tires will be here Wednesday.

A wheel spacer that large surely changes the pivot of the wheel to an arc fairly substantially. I’d guess that changed your tub requirements quite a bit by itself, both on front and back of wheelwell.

Good luck on your project, I’ve got my fingers crossed on mine and we all need a little luck now and then :)

Are y’all going to keep doing rounds of 10 people for a groupbuy discount after the first 10?

I should be responsible and stop spending money on the truck for a couple weeks as I’ve bought a lot of stuff lately... eventually I will be buying the LCA pivots, just not currently

There is a possibility, but not a promise, of a second round.

Responsible spending is important, but so it getting in on the discount while it's available.

    Mods? Yes, oh yes..
two huge problems. 1) trying not to order the steering too, because reasons: " while its all apart..." 2) hoping its a warm winter, gonna be in the dog house for several seasons. @2012TacomaGuy, you won't be alone in spirit.

interested in LCA Pivot Kit with Skid when 3rd gen fitment is confirmed and discount announced. the LCA bushing is definitely larger on 3rd gen. i tried to fit 2nd gen LCA when i went back to stock and that did not work. learned the hard way and had to put every back on.

We'll have to get dimensions, but the only problem with a larger LCA bushing will be less range of adjustment in the caster.

    No, we're really not.

That's why it's important to have an RTT; that makes it "camping" not "thrown out of the house".
