Not only is it dangerous for the employee to be climbing over stuff all day, it's dangerous because we risk damaging completed orders sitting there.

I'll just place this right here: :threadjacked:

Honestly, it is nothing special...I want to get into all grain, I just don't know that I have the time and the Taco has taken a lot of my brewing expansion budget away as well. So for now I am keeping it simple and I can make a hell of a good beer with extract anyways (it just costs more up front, but less time consuming) I am also bottling (soon to swap over to kegging for in house purposes)...but, I still "give" bottles away currently for people that place orders, so I will continue to bottle.

I only brew ales at this time as well...might get into lagering later this year...need another fermenting chamber for it though. My fermenting chamber can fit two 7 Gal fermonsters in there and two little Mr. Beer 2.5 Gal kits in there as well. So, I brew two 5-6 Gal batches and two Mr. Beer kit size small batches typically on one long ass Saturday or Sunday...it's an all day thing. Or sometimes if I get home from work and have a few hours of sunlight now that we are back into Spring...I can knock out a batch then. You know how it goes, you gotta make time!

I have several homebrews that are my own recipes and I still clone or get a quick kit every now and again. I have a great LHBS that takes care of me for all my ordering needs...dropped Northern and Midwest since they got bought out.

Currently bottled for consumption purposes: Two SMASHes (Azacca and Calypso), Two Amber Ales (east and west coast), Irish Red, Porter, PCNW IPA (can't give it away), Honey Wheat, Strawberry Blonde, Two Ciders (mixed berry and apple), Seasonals: Two Christmas Ales, Pumpkin Spice for Fall, Oatmeal Raisin Stout, I have a Lemon Blonde coming up for the spring shortly, Blueberry Wheat is also fermenting right now, and a spiced apple cider for the girls...

Enjoy the pics, nothing too extravagant:

    :homer:

I would use a black stripping wheel...you can pick that up at any auto parts store...like a little 4" black pad (sometimes they are double pads) and some 220 grit sandpaper sheets. Then Like mob said, wipe it down with acetone excessively...prep is key to any coatings. I also work with epoxies and cementitious urethanes on a regular basis.

It took me around 4 hours to prep those bad boys...but I am a perfectionist and wanted it done the right way. Most of it can get hit with the black wheel, but the small crevices need to be hit with the sandpaper sheets that is what take more time.

Once it is sanded down, wipe it down with a clean microfiber and acetone (it will dry instantly)...then go back over it again with a new CLEAN microfiber rag and acetone again. Then go over that with a CLEAN dry rag...if there is any residue, proceed back a step and keep going until that thing is clean.

Then, commence coating...I did not use a primer as most truck bed coatings are designed to stick directly to metal, but having a bond/primer coat certainly will not have negative impacts. First coat is always a light coat in which you should still see a lot of the steel surface. Second coat should be heavier and fill in most of it..third coat should be completely covered. Last coat or two should be done from farther away for an overall even coating at the surface to blend everything in.

    Hope that helps!

EDIT: I used the duplicolor bed coating and sprayed farther away for a more "grip tape" look...they have some new stuff, but it comes out in big globs like linex or rhino liners, which I did not want for my application.

    I would cautiously agree...

I would always recommend prepping a surface to get a "surface profile" for any coating regardless of a primer. It will always enhance the coatings life and can help with even coating. If you have the time, I say prep it appropriately...anything I have prepped always outlasts anything I have not prepped. I work with epoxy resinous coatings day in and day out...over my years of experience in flooring and coatings I have come to the conclusion, creating a surface profile is the key to a long lasting coating.

Either way, mine got rained on pretty good before I started...the day I received them I loaded the pallet into my truck bed, then it stormed like a mad house for the next 3-4 hours...didn't get them home until after work...so I WD40'd them and removed all small rust areas and prepped them for precaution.

Sure. Just use a dust mask. Sand has silica in it and the dust f***s your lungs. Many dedicated blast medias are doing away with silica. I think it's even illegal in some areas to use sand for blasting.

I think he means install them bare on the truck and then race up and down the beach, remove and paint.

Please tell me you're using a friends shop or something to do this? If not, what do you do for a living so I can do that? You're set up better than me. Haha

Stupid question, do i need to bring a crew to load on my truck at whatever shipping depot they end up at, or will they take care of loading them on the truck?

Wife's families personal shop. Her grandpa and her dad are old school mechanics. I just get lucky if the shop isn't full. It takes about five trucks and their 950 loader to fill it.

    They'll load it.

Also, he bought sliders, skids and bed accessories which is why the crate is so big.
