Any darker will affect the light output. There's a reason they are tinted black chrome and not black paint. I saw a drop in light output with these headlights, not much but enough to see the difference even with aftermarket high output light bulbs.

 

I didn't notice any adverse affect after installation of the TRD Pro headlights. The reflector is nearly identical, if not the very same to that of the original OEMs, that I can tell. The smoked or black chrome housing should not hinder the output. But perhaps you were born with a keen sense of X-ray vision! lol Anyhow, I like them. Definitely a new fresh upgrade to the boring silver stock ones!

 

2 things, is this pricing still valid, and does anyone have a side by side comparison of stock to these?

 

When I get these in the mail some point this week, I'll take a picture. @Lord Helmet has a picture a few pages ago on his truck.

Easy install after watching that youtube video and twisting the lights out. The light output is the same or negligible in difference. I have to say that it is not as subtle as some of the photos show. Side by side, you can see the difference in the same light.
