What is the difference in the two versions, other than appearance?

Functionally the are the same, it's the material finish of the gas spring and the warranty that is different.

Can these be adjusted? I have ditch lights and would hate for it to go to high and push my lights into the window or rub.

 

Yes, by mounting the hood bracket further forward (towards the headlight) you can have the final opening height lower.

Which one did you get? the black or the chrome? can't decide...

 

The shipping is killing us here in Canada- at close to 50 US for shipping these to my door its a third of total cost. (ouch!)

 

Yeah, unfortunately shipping to Canada is quite expensive, not really much we can do about it.

 

I assume this also applies for adjusting to raise a few more inches from stock height?

 

No, You can not move the hood bracket back to raise the height as the gas spring will run out of stroke and the hood will not close.
