Anyone know how much they would normally charge for a 2wd regear without gb pricing?

Yea I just want to know if it’s worth it to jump on this or if I can wait and not punch myself later on for not doing so.

Hey just put in a deposit and there was an option for polished gears where you don’t have a break in period? Tried to look it up but can’t find anything about it.

Lookup REM polishing for gears, lots of info about the process, benefits and drawbacks. REM polishing is basically a process of removing the factory coatings and leveling the surface to be smooth. Mostly good stuff but here are some of the things I remember from the research:

    Pros
    - Little to no brake in time
    - Gears have a much smoother running surface so less heat is generated
    - Added peace of mind after a large investment of a gear swap

    Cons
    - Cost
    - They can be louder then conventional finishes
    - Some guys like the idea of traditional break in where the contact patch is the only pice of the ring that is broken in/exposed vs having the entire ring polished with no coating

I went REM for the peace of mind and less break in time, my truck is a daily driver that tows a fair amount in the summer so I couldn't afford the downtime of breaking in the gears for both normal driving and towing. That being said, I still did not tow for 1000 miles, drove slow and did 5 heat cycles the day of install to help break in the gears even if they are not supposed to need it.

Dude, thanks for taking the time to explain it. Appreciate it! I’m going with the REM polishing as well.

Wait, can I still get in on this group buy? The price seems too good to be true.

Yesterday, I did my first oil change since the re-gear. When I removed my skid plate, I noticed oil leaks on the skid and the gear. Is this something I need to worry about?

Miguel raised the price a bit to $1800 but it’s still going on. Still a deal!

Thanks. Trying to read all 90+ pages, seems like there have been some issues. The price is right, just trying to determine the quality of the work.

30k miles and no issues, I was the first to get regeared. They've done 100+ now.

In terms of the oil leaking on the first pic, wipe it off, drive, and check again after a couple days.

Anyone try to take off their driveshaft since their gears? I cannot get the bolts off the rear flange or the bolt/nuts off the front on the transfer case. Wonder if it’s related to work done.

Yeah I did, came off just fine. Did my normal method of 6 point wrench and deadblow. Those bolts are tight from OEM.

Yeah that’s what I’ve heard. I’m not pinning it on them at this time. Just wanted to see who else has tried and if there is any trend.

Try my method. I use a 3lb deadblow. Using a socket just strips it.
