You could hold on to them for when you change your setup. With my wheels, 33" tires, and 2" lift I'm not rubbing mine at all and I've never had the cab mount chop on either of the two 2nd gens I've owned.

What's your alignment? Do you have any positive caster?

It's unlikely I will change my set-up anytime soon, and I'm not going to spend $1000s on a new lift and tires just to make $150 mud flaps work.

Not sure; but I can tell you I only have about 2.5-inches clearance between the tire and the rearward end of the wheel well when I'm going straight and only about 1/2-inch clearance when I do a full turn. Sometimes when I'm backing up and doing a full turn I still get a little rubbing because the truck body momentarily flexes position on the suspension due to inertia.

So anyways, I've looked at all the practical options and the mud flaps will simply have to go. :notsure:

What do you mean? As you tighten the bolt the rubber will expand making it secure

You mean the nut for the bottom screw in the front? You have to kinda angle it diagonally in, not straight or you'll scratch the flare. I had to bend mine open a bit so it would slide in.

I'll have to look at it again.. I had the bolt in the slot nut before I inserted it into the hole.
The slot nut for the L bracket that inserts into the metal frame portion of the truck.

Right make sure its inserted into the hole then start tightening the bolt. There's a nut inside and as you tighten it should pinch the rubber bit forcing it to expand outward creating a tight seal

Does anyone in this thread still have to instructions for these? I bought a set second hand from a member with all the hardware but I am not sure where the hardware goes. Can anyone help? If you have the instructions please take pictures or scan and upload them. I would greatly appreciate it.

yeah they can be a bit slow. Well I just realized my instructions are going to be for a 3rd gen which are different than 2nd gen. Hopefully someone else can chime in and help you out. From my understanding the 2nd gen should be pretty simple

I would say the longer screws go with the longer spacers... :D
