I get this from time to time also. The 5 or so times it's happened it's always on the driver side. My ballasts are new, I ordered my whole setup on the group buy a couple months ago (October 2013 I think). Are there newer/ better ballasts I should get from The retrofit source?

I heard there was a recall. I have the Morimoto mini H1 with the 3 Five ballasts, if that makes a difference

My replacements are doing good, no issues so far. But its been cold and rainy and snowy so I still have 4 ballasts under my hood

I just had an issue with my ballast today as well. Its around 9° or so and I turned it on and off 4 times before both were working. Didn't expect this.

Having same issue with my ballast. Only fires about 20% of time. Don't want to spend 110 for 2 ballasts since I don't see single replacement ballast on their websites.

We've shipped out about 4,000 DSP ballasts already and maybe 30 have had issues. If you're one of those who is having issues, please contact us directly and we'll help get it all resolved.

Many have been tested in customers' cars down to -20C without hiccups.

If I wanted to join this group buy, would I have to buy the whole kit or could I just buy the projector and the bulbs? I don't need anything else but those two.

And is the GB limited to those three items or could I get the morimoto bi xenon h1 mini 6.0?
Not sure how this all works and that's the product I'm looking for

The GB is for only the kits listed on the first page and not individual parts.

    Good Day
I have a question - Don't those ballasts push more than 20KV - How come you didn't get the jolt of your life by having a screwdriver so close to the bulb contacts when the system is turned on ??
I am truly frightened of the voltages ballasts can produce and take the utmost care when working around them...Just asking how you didn't get leveled by electricity

He never said that he had the system turned on when he removed the rubber dampers...

I wanted to say something but kept to my self. I don't think anyone is stupid enough to have the ballasts on and mess with it with a screwdriver

First of all the ballast wasn't sending power to the buld then secondly even if it was i would have to touch both the negative and positive at the same time to have anything happen which is hard to do in the case of these D2S connectors. Walking across the street is much more dangerous!

Any of you guys removed the rubbers?

I'm debating on doing that to mine. My mom passenger side one didn't fire 4 times. It was 9°

I would think just touching the "live" wire could shock you. Touching both isn't required; your body can close the circuit with the ground your standing on. Rubber boots might save you but your standing on water essentially (Snow).

I mentioned this because I was jolted by holding the rubber part of a spark plug wire with the spark plug connected in a Brush Cutter before
Just saying its just a risk I am not willing to take.

Anyhow...Thanks for sharing your findings with all of us.

Why did you have them on while messing with them?

You should always have everything off or preferably have the battery disconnected when dealing with electrical.

Ya but the screw driver had most likely a rubber handle. Non conductive material he would be fine
