So I recently just came across this TRS discount thread and it got me into looking at doing a retrofit so I have a few questions for some of you guys that can help out. I'm not looking for something with all the bells and whistles, I just want HID lighting to improve visibility over the stock lights. So I'm thinking I don't need illuminated halos or anything like that.

What is the different in the H1's and the DS2's functionally speaking?

Is the wiring harness install the same process for the 2000 as the 05+ Tacoma? And use the same H4 harness?

What's the typical life expectancy of a 4500K bulb with the 35W ballast?

How is the cut off adjusted to keep from blinding people? Does anyone have any problems with them being to bring and getting pulled over or high beamed by other drivers?

Is there any other helpful tips or info I need to know as I am looking into this?

    Thanks

Cut off would be adjusted with the adjustment screws on the back of the housing. The same way you adjust your halogens. Properly aimed lights should not interfere with other drivers ability to see. So when aimed right you should not have to worry about being pulled over or brighted.

What size halo should I get for the top of the G37-R shrouds and do I have to cut them to get them on the DS2's?

Thanks for the info. Very helpful

What kind of paint do people use to paint the reflective housing? I've seen videos of people painting them without even sanding them? Seems crazy

So after doing some searching, it appears as though this is what I need? https://www.theretrofitsource.com/c...-xchange-switchback-drivers.html#.VuL2UtA0N60

Also, what is the 12V constant power source that everyone is using? Sorry for all of the questions...wiring and electronics just does not come naturally to me.

correct. for the 12v power u can use a tap a fuse for soemthing in the fuse box under the hood. Or find something int he cab and run it to that. There is a blank in the second row of the fuse box by the steering wheel that is ignition only.
