Purchased them last night! Was on the fence about them since I was supposed to get 10% discount if I had them shipped directly to a retrofitter, but thanks to this forum, got the 25%

That's a surprise. TYC Elegante has always been one of the better aftermarket housings.

Are you running 55w? That might be the problem. 55w projectors run hot.

Here's the thing Rich, i have a 2012 and it comes with DRL, its on all the time, and the thing is super hot even in OEM housing, the chrome reflector where my signal/DRL sits had melted in the TYC, so to get the bulb out, i have to pull it when its still hot. I have 50w FX-R but its fine except the lenses gets fogged up after my trip to Oklahoma with the headlights on for few hours straight, either its fogging or the 50w is making it melt, i'll try get pictures tomorrow.

Yes Signal bowl/DRL bowl where the 3157 bulb sits.

Ahh... Ya, the DRL is a known problem. Apparently TYC has not addressed it. Toyota specified the 4157 lamp which is a few watts more than the 3157... sucks because I've looked for a straight 3157 and all I can find is a 3157/4157 but Sylvania doesn't list the wattage on the package.
I have the DRL kit and want to install it, but I want to make sure my lamps are running cooler... and I don't know if Depo has handled the DRL heat issue.
LEDs would be nice, but there are no electronic flasher modules available for the 12-pin DRL connector.

Your fogging is likely from moisture in the housing. Mine fogged when I first installed them, but I was a little aggressive with the pressure wand at the car wash. After a few weeks, it dried out, and I haven't had a problem since as long as I avoid pegging the housing directly at the car wash.
Touch-free washes and rain are not a problem.

D2S and Mini-H1 are no more difficult than the BHLM.
    FX-R is pretty involved.

Yeah rich go Led, I did not get fogging from rain or carwash but I saw it after the lights were on for at least 5 hours straight, it's still there. The Sylvania is about 26.8 watts I think. Called Trs and 50w is fine with mini d2s.

55w has been considered OK with the D2S, but there have been a couple of people report issues with the reflector peeling.
Last I heard from TRS a couple of weeks ago, they are no longer recommending 55w for anything other than FX-R.

LED... like I said, have to deal with the flasher.
I'm not going to run load resistors. That's just too much heat running 24/7. They're okay for turn signals because they are only on for a short time.
The alternative is to attempt to mod the flasher itself... too much trial and error involved in getting the resistance right.

What I might do is stick with the 3157/4157, but add a 1-ohm power resistor in series with the bulb, which will drop the wattage to around 22 and should be cool enough to let the housing survive.

The reflectors from my tyc is fine, I agree on the resistor, it gets too hot I almost burned myself. So I'm sticking with oem this time with the d2s I ordered.
