Same here, basically the only free time I have is on Sundays. I've never done a headlight retrofit before, but I feel pretty comfortable taking up the challenge.

I didn't realize the badass ballasts weren't waterproof. I was gonna go baller and get all the high end shit but I just stuck with morimoto ballasts and bulbs, just upgraded to a 3" fxr kit. My current morimoto kit and been under water numerous times and I have yet to have a problem with it so I don't mind buying them again

I wouldn't even consider the Morimoto to be waterproof.
They are potted, and are water resistant, but I had some issues on initial installation on a rainy day after mounting mine on the flat "shelf" behind the driver's headlight. The velcro was soaked and there was a small amount of moisture in the ballast housing.

The ballast can be sensitive to water... these are not simple DC circuits, they are very high frequency AC and the bulbs spark off with something like 15kv. A small amount of water in the wrong place can lead to an arc bypassing where you want it to go.

The Morimotos are water resistant enough to survive being mounted vertically, with the cable exits pointing down, up near the top of the engine compartment.
I would not trust one under the bumper for fogs.

Hey when you place your order request them to waterproof the ballasts its like $25 or maybe it was $50 I don't remember now. But I had it done I went with the Denso ballast. It's worth the couple extra bucks for that piece of mind IMO. Still yet to install my kit it's just sitting in the closet lol

What does weatherproof mean then? That's what I read and I thought I had read it said waterproof.
Is that an option on their website? How would just anybody know that they can ask for that? And does that change or comprise the integrity of the ballast in any way? Like it gets hotter or shortens the life span?

Splashproof... water-resistant. It will survive being exposed to weather, but not being soaked.

Even watch manufacturers stopped using the term "waterproof" many years ago. They now use "Water resistant xxx ft/meters", but because of dynamic pressures, the "dive rating" is anywhere from 10% to 30% of the label number. A 30m watch is good for swimming, not diving, even though 30m is about 100ft.

I found out about it when I was asking Andrew if my ballasts where waterproof he said no but said they offered a service to "waterproof" them so I went ahead and did that. I don't believe they advertise it on there site and I highly doubt it would effect the integrity or life or they wouldn't offer it, but I'm sure you could ask him. Also I don't think that's something you can add at checkout. I had him send me an invoice via paypal when I was in the process of ordering my kit.

last update from Andrew was last Friday 11/8/13
"DHL is pallet-izing the shipment after it had to go to a second customs office at port, so it will be here on Monday. We then begin tear down, counting, and testing, and then ship every backorder."

I emailed him this morning to get any update and no reply so far :notsure:
