Got it. To confirm, this only related to the extension portion. The standard locking/tie-down mechanism is functioning correctly?

Is this Group Buy still open?

I'm researching Rotopax and trying to decide if I'm ordering. And how I'll mount them if I do!

Thinking about a bed rack system though for Hi-Lift and Spare tire. Not sure yet though!

I ended up ordering through Rotopax. I found it was actually cheaper than Amazon by $40 for all the items I wanted.

    Rotopax are here!! Woohoo!

I ordered two 2gal Gas cans, two 2gal Water cans, two Toyota bed rail mounts, two Rotopax mounts, and two extensions. I ordered direct from Rotopax as I found it actually was $40.00 less than ordering all the same stuff through Amazon.

I decided to order two Blem gas cans since they were a bit cheaper. Rotopax are about function not aesthetics anyhow, right?

Gas Rotopax and Toyota Bedrail Mount Plates

    White Water Rotopax cans.

First Gas can has minor "blems" that look like scuff marks on the upper corner.

Second gas can's "blem" appears to be a seam in the rotationally molded can that isn't pretty. I don't see any functional issue with it though.

Both gas "blem" cans smelled like they'd been in an auto shop. There was a distinct automotive smell - much like a mechanic's greasy hands. They were also dusty/dirty compared to the brand new white water cans. The folks at Rotopax made very efficient use of space within their shipping boxes. Everything was tucked into nooks and crannies and the Rotopax Mount and Extensions were pre-assembled and sitting in their designated spaces within the packs themselves.

Since I had these shipped to me at work I didn't spend much time getting to know the packs. One of the gas cans sounded like it had something inside it so I'll have to rinse them out before I actually fill them with gas and potentially pour that into my truck!

There was a small baggie with some small bolts in it which I'm imagining go to the Rotopax mounts themselves. I didn't see whether there was proper mounting hardware to mount the mounting plates to the Toyota bed rail though. I'll have to dig in to find those later.

The first blem can isn't bad, but the second one isn't great. Interesting about the smell, but Rotopax tests them (per their website) and gives them a 1 year warranty. Maybe the smell is from their garage/lab?

My guess is the blems are demos from show events. LoL Why else would they only have blems on gas units?

Yes. Both of mine failed though. Not to say yours would. But both my blemished fuel cans were replaced by Rotopax because they leaked.

I spent a few bucks more and bought the non-blems because they come with a lifetime warranty (versus one year for the blems) and didn't want to worry about them failing after a few years of abuse and UV exposure.

Maybe they don't have any blems in stock? Or maybe they stopped selling blems? lol

I'd say just stick to the new in box ones from my experience.
