Have you addressed the issue? Never addressed an "Axle Wrap".. is it difficult/a DIY job?

Do you happen to have steps to help us lesser educated folks know how we go about attempting to fix this clunking as you mentioned above. I get it a lot when it's colder and coming to a stop and would love to be able to fix it if that's possible on my own

    Quick and dirty explanation;

    Slipjoint
    -drop the driveshaft
    -matchmark sleeve yoke to driveshaft
-matchmark boot clamp pinch points to driveshaft
    -remove boot
    -pull slip joint apart
    -clean
-apply 0.2-0.4 oz Ford XJ8 grease
    -reassemble

    Axlewrap
    -stiffer leaf pack
    -ladder bars
    -longer spring perches
    -more spring keepers
    -remove any lift blocks

@mello03 had his slipjoint lubed by the dealer.
While better, it didn't completely get rid of it.
The dealer then installed a new driveshaft and it was even worse than before.

If I decide to do mine, I'll be taking it to a driveshaft shop to check balance, runout, etc.

    Thanks @splitbolt
Just watched some vids on YouTube and someone tapped a zerk fitting to continually grease their slip joint on a Chevy.

Anyhow, gonna take it in and do a test drive with a Shop Foreman. And hopefully resolve this.

My dealer has greased the slip joint in mine last year, and I had him do it again on one of the many trips I've been in for service (I think around 15K). That reduced the occurrence quite a bit and when it happens I dont feel like I'm getting rear ended. However, when its cold outside its much more pronounced.

I can relate to the jumping as well. When I am backing out or pulling into my garage it has a tendancey to want to lunge at times. For a newer driver I feel like this would put them through my tool box I am just more used to it and know how to handle it at this point.

I opened a case with Toyota and made my disappointment very known. I said "if you can't or won't fix my truck, then I want an extended warranty" They called me after a few days and offered me the extended warranty, which according to them is their best plan....who knows

Took my limited in Monday tech could not duplicate the rear end noise when braking. Went on a road test with the ship foreman. Duplicated the noise. He was shocked to hear how it felt and how loud it was. He checked the truck out didn't see anything wrong. Called tech line and when he heads from them they will call me back.

Keep us posted! I have this exact issue but no one really wants to take ahold of the issue for me.

I'm having the very same situation with my TRDOR. Unfortunately Toyota has no fix and say I just have to "live with it" until Toyota decides it's a problem big enough with many others before a recall etc is put out. When I told them I'm tired of going back and forth to Toyota service, their response was, " well that's your problem if you continue to do that" fricken amazing right. Mine has been in the shop at least fives times for this clunk and the passenger side dash rattle. Now I just brought it back today because it takes on water inside the cab during car washes. They just called me to tell me it's leaking through the third brake light through the headliner and onto the driver and passenger side floor board area.

Sorry you gotta deal with that. The dealership I go to i used to work so I know alot of people. Maybe that's why I get treated so good. But it's sad to hear the stuff people have to deal with. Thankfully when I drove with the Forman it was loud and shook the truck. So that way he gets the gravity of the issue. When I hear something I'll definitely let you guys know.

Just started hearing this clunk/clank sound today from the front. Installed extended brake lines about 2 weeks ago along with stiffer spring on 6112 and HD Dakar full leaf pack + AAL. Hoping its a improper brake lines related job?
    Researching this...

I found a dead body or two rotting in the bed. Threw them out in my usual shallow grave and hosed out the bed all nice and bleached, but still heard some clunking. I think it’s related to The Telltale Heart. But I tell myself it’s only first gear.

Glad I came across this thread because I've been noticing a good clunking noise and for me it happens when I' driving around 15-20mph and firmly come to a stop.

Also not sure if anyone has noticed a big transmission slip when you do a rolling stop......hit the brakes and slow down to 10-5mph then press the gas to keep going and the transmission has this big lag before it starts pulling.

I was just at the dealer for a navigation problem.
Ideally if you can record video of what's going on then that helps prove your point otherwise if they can't duplicate the issues you're complaint about then they can't address it.
