    Hi,
My first post. I didn't find what I'm looking for by searching. So....my stock 2001 Tacoma Limited (180k mi) has developed a single clunk each time I make a right turn. Sounds like coming from the right front wheel area. Jacked it up and wiggled the front wheels. Pretty tight. But steering rack bushings were shot and inner tie rods also slightly loose. No other visible sign of defects. Installed brand new Toyota steering rack and poly bushings. Still clunks. Replaced original struts with Bilsteins using new Toyota top caps and rubber cushions for strut springs (also replaced the rears). Still clunks. Now what? Any ideas?

i had the same sounds. sound travels along the frame. both times the sound sounded like it was at the front of the truck (turns or potholes). check your rear springs. one could be broken. that's what was causing my "clunking"

I might fall under this category. I'd get a single clunk if my wheel was turned right, usually if I was backing into a parking spot or out my driveway. Eventually it went away and now I'm getting a loud rumbling noise and vibration and a squeaking when I turn my steering wheel. Can't really help yet, but I've got 90K on my 2011 so I'm replacing steering rack bushings, lower passenger side ball joint both sides, LCA bushings both sides, right CV and wheel bearings both sides. Before the clunking, I went in for a wheel alignment and they got it pretty close, but the tech said he ran out of adjustment on my right front. Alignment hasn't held very well ever since my 2nd wheeling trip, lol.

I'm going to install the right CV and wheel bearings this week. I'll see if there's any improvement before it goes into the shop next week to get all the bushings and LBJ installed. Will update this thread just in case it helps.

I'm kind of throwing a bunch of stuff at it but like you, things seem pretty tight when I inspect it. Most of this stuff has been on my 'mod list' anyway.
