    few things here and there.
    Hey y’all.

so, I’ve got this clunk sound when I turn the wheel. I usually notice it after it sits overnight. First thing when I hop in and turn the wheel it sounds like metal on metal. Yesterday it was pretty bad. Heard it going through my yard, over bumps, even coming to a stop while driving down the road.

shop said they couldn’t figure it out… so I’m unsure what it could be.

    any thoughts?

had the Mrs try and capture a video, sorry for the quality. Sound can be heard right at the start, and when I go to lockout, pause, then turn the wheel.

    thanks for any insight!

Try concentrating on the steering shaft and rack versus the suspension. This is where I would look while the Mrs slowly turn the wheel back/forth.

    This.

I'd say put it up on jack stands and with the truck off (and parking brake on and rear wheels chocked for safety) have your wife turn it back & forth. Steering intermediate shaft could be toast, check if the entire rack & pinion has any movement, and/or check if anything else in the steering/suspension has any play or movement.

    thanks, to both of y’all!

So, the intermittent shaft can make a clunk outside the truck? I thought you only heard that inside the cab? Just curious! I hope it’s that… an entire steering rack is like 1.5k..

    All stock, baby!
Yeah, the intermediate shaft including the u-joint on it is in the engine compartment. Depending upon how bad it is, pretty sure you could get an audible clunk out of it. I changed mine well before that, it was rusted out bad but not yet binding as badly as others have reported here on TW.

Update: Clunk turned out to be my sway bar linkage, apparently they were toast. Replaced them and have no has the clunk since.
