    Hey all.

Couple months ago, I went to perform an oil change on my truck. I'm sure you all know where this is going now.

    :bananadead:

I did the research (obviously not well enough) and watched my friend drain his. (obviously not observant enough) While underneath, I was scoping the truck to make sure I got the right pan, another friend stated it was the ATF pan which I drained from for like 1 minute before I plugged it right back up. I could not tell you how much I drained as I already had fluid in the oil catch pan from a previous job. Should have just looked at my phone again instead of relying on his word. My mistake. Attempted to fill back up, trunk starts clunking mildly on stops and go.

Took it a Valvoline shop cause cheap pricing and a hopefulness that they can square it away. I told/asked them if they were familiar with the weird way to test the ATF levels to make sure accurate. They assured me they did. (they didn't as I suspected) They filled it up, but I don't think it's the right level it should be at.

The clunking on stop and go is driving me nuts. Am I right to think that it is most likely the incorrect fluid level and that I need to do the OBD jump to ensure proper level? I was going to attempt to grease up the slip yoke in drive shaft as I have found on several thread suggestions.

    Any tips/suggestions would be great.

Do a full drain and refill. That’s really the only way to be sure the level is correct

    That's what I'm thinking.

Seems 4-5 quarts are needed, maybe an extra just in case.

Be careful. I'm pretty sure AT does not drain the full 4-5 quarts. Do not overfill the transmission. Is there a Dipstick for the Trans or is it one of those sealed AT systems Toyota is doing?

    Thanks, gonna need it.

Doesn't seem too bad to do, just time consuming.

    ^This

I think it also depends on if you have an oil cooler(like a little mini radiator, mounted in front of your main radiator), which can make a full drain/refill a little more of an ordeal. So, an ordeal on top of an ordeal. Whatever you do, definitely verify it is at the required fill level by going through the process you seem to already be familiar with(jumping the two ports to verify it is at correct operating temp, etc...). Keep us posted on what you find.
