Make sure your key fob isn't bouncing around under the seat.

    Do you have running boards?

I was chasing a similar issue and gave up. I've heard of people saying the running boards bump the body somehow.

I have that click or clack when I land on something hard and my driver's side fully compresses. I haven't gotten irritated enough to explore it yet.

I had pad slap on the passenger caliper which also made this noise. It didn't stop until I put new rotors and pads on after inspecting the calipers, clean up the dust boots on the pistons and apply a little lube on the slide pins (which are exposed on mine, no dust boots like my 07 had).

Even w suspension compression eh? Interesting. I'll have to look into it. There was for sure a bunch of mud on my pins not too long ago.

Yes, that's what was throwing me off for a bit. It would only do it periodically.
I have another one going on right now, I am pretty sure it's the rack and pinion, but could also be the shocks. Again doesn't do it all the time, just once in a while. There have been a few trucks 16s and 17s that have had the rack and pinion come loose from its mounts.
As long as it doesn't get louder and/or longer sounding. More frequent also, it shouldn't be a big problem.

While not your cause (snow and all) it may be similar with mud/rocks. In the winter, my trucks throws slush up inbetween the cab and the frame right on the cab mount. This then freezes solid overnight and makes a hell of a banging sound that can be felt in the left foot well area. I took it to the dealer several times and each time they said it was a strut, I refused their strut replacement as I knew the strut would not be making that same sound. I did finally figure it out on my own and informed the dealer.

But, check this area (behind front wheel) and see if anything is caked up in there.

So I've got an 06 and have the same issue after A LOT if searching I have found that it's coming from the seam in between the floorplan and the C channel that's bodywelded to the bottom for strength. I have no idea how to address it aside from drilling and running a bolt and washers through it to clamp it.

Dirt roads... new truck... new tires.

You're throwing rocks off your tires into the floor pan

Sometimes on pavement the rocks that get stuck in the tread get loose and hit the floor pan.

I'm not a betting man but I grew up on a gravel road and I got $100 that's what it is.

Exact same thing happened to me...In a 2010 tacoma 4x4 double cab 78k I drove onto a dirt/gravel road, I started hitting washboard and a knocking developed under my driver side floorboard. On pavement it occasionally knocked but most bumps didn't feel right like something was loose in the front suspension. I almost took it in but after a couple inspections I found a rock jammed perfectly between my chassis and the cab of the vehicle. The rock took all the major vibrations instead of the body mount bushings. Removed the rock and it was all good.

So, randomly a few days ago I started hearing what sounded like a loose strut or perhaps a control arm bushing. I jacked the truck up checked all the components everything seemed totally fine I had just had it all apart to redo the front end earlier this summer.
I read multiple threads last night and came across this one today. Sure enough I walked outside looked at the top of the driver side frame and there was a little pebble there that must have kicked off one of my tires, took it out and no further noises.

That's unbelievable that a little Rock can make that much noise. Sometimes it's the smallest things.

Hope someone else has the same luck.
