I know... It's a 4Runner, but they are similar enough to tacomas that maybe somebody has an answer.

I have a clunking noise when stopping. I don't hear it until I get below 3 mph coming to a stop. It is worse if I am turning while compressing the brakes.

It isn't the brakes, I checked the pads, they are clean, no rocks caught, etc.

Anybody with a dual shock setup have this issue?? I've got the Icon S2 Modular Suspension.

Too poor to list anything interesting.
This. My clicking noise ended up being the pin on the brakes.

Check this. When you're stopped, drive forward slowly and see if you hear it. If you do, stop and then slowly drive backward and see if you hear it again. That's what the giveaway was for me.

Checked the brakes. It's not that.
I think it is a loose bolt somewhere. I'll have to check again when it is light. Not used to having a real suspension system and having to service it regularly.
I hope it is just a loose something haha

Check your sway bar links, had a similar issue from a recent suspension mod

No front sway bar. That could be the cause in the rear though.

My guess is something rattled loose this last weekend. We had it up to highway speeds off road for a good portion of the trail.

I'm running Icons on my truck and I get a popping noise sometimes when backing out of my driveway or parking spot. Everything is tight and the noise is still there. Here's a pic of my setup

I do get it more when it is the start of the drive. Like when I back out of my parking spot. It gets less prevalent as I keep driving.

That noise may be due to the fact you are running spherical bearing uniball's on your UCA's if you have LCA's (which since you have dual shocks) I would assume you have uniball's on them also.

I have funny low speed noises when my uniball's are not properly lubed. Can you take a video and post it on here? I have ton's of funny clicks and pops on mine when moving, but I know everything is tight and all my suspension is in good shape.

I only notice is at very low speeds. At higher speeds I don't hear anything.

I also have this issue as well. It happens when I back up and get moving forward mostly. It definitely does disappear as I drive more.

    VERY common.

A couple key areas to check.

-Brakes, make sure they are not shifting, which over time the pins which are part of the fixed pistons degrade and start to make noise.

-Transmission X-member, the way they are built, the member slides into the frame and the frame partially grabs onto the member with pressure. Because of this odd way of making things fit, the metal CAN potentially shift and touch other metal which is part of the frame when driving it.

-Transmission output shaft aluminum shield, the aluminum shield on the output shaft of these trucks are made using real thin aluminum. They can potentially dent, sink in, warp, whatever, which will make the driveshaft tap the messed up part of the shield as it goes through gears, or initially goes into it's gear change.

-LCA retention bolt's, make sure these are torqued nice and tight. I torque on mine well up to 110 ft. lbs. They can potentially click, or pop on movement if they are either too loose, or torqued WAY too tight (ask me how I know).

Thanks. I checked the brakes but I'll be sure to double check everything else as well.

I have the same clicking sound passenger side only. I'll try these suggestions, and keep an eye on this thread. Hope you get your issue fixed Matt!
