    So a few weeks ago I got into my truck and turned on the lights and the instrument panel did not. It took about 45 seconds then it illuminated. Over the weekend I installed a new stereo that works perfect. But now my instrument panel (gas gauge, temp and speedometer) and my panel for my HVAC doesn't illuminate now either. I am quite positive all bulbs didn't burn out,I'm thinking the plastic female/male came loose in the process of installing the stereo. Can anybody lend some advice?....edit I'm a dumbass and just checked the fuse and it was bad

    Did you cut your stock radio harness to install new one? The dash light circuit does hit the radio. Glad you got it figured.

    I did install a new deck but the previous one was a pioneer deck as well. So I unhooked the previous one and made sure to connect it back one to one. The thing is the stereo still works but the dash lights don't. Pretty sure they're just on different fuses.

    you made sure to connect what back one to one? Pioneer has been pretty universal on their plugs not changing for a number of years. Is the original toyota stereo plug still on the harness, and you used an adapter, or is your stereo pigtail hack/slashed onto the factory radio harness?

    Three main host lines on the stereo;
    12v ignition power, controls the main power of the stereo
    12v always on, same circuit as the dome
    12v illumination, same circuit as dash/climate control lights. Your stereo may or may not have this. But there should be a wire for it.

    The connection to the new stereo was off by just a fraction of an inch and the orientation was flipped 180. So the press down release mechanism was on the opposite side. So one by one, so I didn't mess up I undid wires on the old plug and connected them to the new plug, with the wired screws until finishing the last one. Once I get the new 10 amp fuse then I'll be able to see if that solves the issue, I'm quite positive it should. Just super weird that it crapped out right when I did the stereo and it wasn't the stereo fuse that blew.

    you used home electrical grade wire nuts on your truck?

    Hope the fuse helps!

    I found out what it was, just a uncovered wire that was touching a piece of metal behind the stereo. Evidently it was fine before but now it was touching metal and so I covered all the exposed wires, and I'm back to normal now. :)
