I had a question if anyone can help , recently I had my speedometer going in and out on my 06 Tacoma . We narrowed it down to a bad cluster , so I did a cluster swap from a 05 Tacoma , (2nd gen ) it was sold to me as “ it was taking off a Tacoma that had 195k miles “ .. so once I did the swap , the odometer is now showing 270k on the new cluster and the fuel gauge is stuck on full .. the actual mileage on my truck is only 113k , curious if maybe it’s a bad cluster or do I need to reprogram it ? Not to sure . I swapped my old one back on already . The speedometer only usually cuts out until the truck is completely warmed up . But would be nice to fix the issue .

The mileage "lives" in the cluster. If you want the new cluster to read correctly, you'll need to have it sent off to be reprogrammed - there are a couple of companies that do it. It sounds like the new cluster has an issue aside from the mileage (stuck on full) so you may want to figure that out before you send it off to be reprogrammed, or you're just swapping one problem for another.

Thank you , good to know about the mileage , the more research I’ve done , I’ve come to realize the gas gauge is definitely bad also , now I know to track down a cluster with similar mileage .. well in hopes . Thanks man .
