    ...hopefully, not the ugly.

Took my 2016 M/T in for 10,000 mile service and had two complaints...the clutch mechanism was making "creaky" noises suddenly and, of course, the differential has the "whir/whine" noise with with most of us are familiar.

The dealer contacted Toyota and was authorized to replace parts in the clutch and parts in the differential. Then Toyota contacted the dealer and stated the differential noise was "a normal characteristic" for the vehicle. Which, of course, is bullshit.

The clutch repair involved replacing the master cylinder, pedal stopper and pedal pivot bushings. The technician said the clutch lacked lubrication and was improperly torqued. This is the way it came from the factory, I would guess.

So I talked to Toyota headquarters customer service the last two days and a case was opened. The polite person at Toyota insisted the diff noise was normal, and I kept laughing. There is to be some sort of follow-up. We'll see.

    all tore up already
ive been battling the clutch creaks forever. got to the point local dealer had a "field technical supervisor" come up to diagnose and repair my truck. i had 2 very distinct sounds, one was a high pitch squeak and the other is a lower creak. they cured the high pitch squeak by disassembling the clutch pedal and applying grease to the plastic pivot bushing. the other one i believe is coming from the main return spring. still looking for a piece of brass shim stock cheap i can throw in there

They are replacing clutch master cylinder for noises... hmmm ... I get a creak now and then. Nothing that is bothersome. I do get a funny feel when it's cold outside first startup in the am, press clutch and it is a tad harder to push down and then sluggish on return but not all the time. One time the pedal hesitated on return... like the pedal wanted to stay on the floor! Kinda like the master cylinder was getting ready to take a dump.
