    Hi Guys,
New to the forum, thanks for having me. I have a question. I have a 98 tacoma, standard cab with 209K miles. Has been perfectly fine but I got in it last night and the clutch went all the way to the floor and it would not go into any gears. I started it and eventually was able to force it in gear but it was not smooth at all. This just happened and has not been a problem in the past. Any ideas? I would say master or slave cylinder if it was just the clutch with no pressure but the transmission shifting has me stumped. Any help would be most appreciated,
    Michael

Probably either the master or slave, but at that milage I'd just replace both. Theres a slight chance the shift fork could be broken. I would get under the truck and watch the slave cylinder on the drivers side of the bellhousing as a helper presses on the clutch, it should give you some insight into the problem.

The reason you can't shift is because the rotation of the engine is 'binding' (for a lack of a better word/coffee) the transmission. When you press the clutch, it disconnects the engine from the transmission and removes strain from the transmission and allows you to shift. Having a clutch that wont' release prevents this from happening.

    Is the fluid BLACK ?
Use a turkey baster to drain the MC and fresh DOT3-4 sometimes fixes it.
    Broken fork ?
Pedal mounts on firewall cracked ?
Shifter seat and bushing worn out/broken ?
    Good luck :fingerscrossed:

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
If your clutch release Fork failed the slave cylinder might also have shot the piston out when pressure was applied .

Also causing Hydraulic Failure as well.

    Very interesting !

Unless the reservoir was empty it would not allow the clutch to go to the floor.

So just where has the fluid run off to is the question??
