Seriously I'm just learning how to work on this thing.
    Hi y'all,

    2nd gen taco, 2005 v6 6 speed manual.

Anytime I have to use reverse slowly, like into a tight spot, I get a pretty bad burning smell. It happens if I have to pump the gas/clutch to ease the truck into the spot. It also occurs if I have to reverse up and incline, slowly.

Does anyone else experience this? Curious if it could be *normal*. Transmission doesn't slip, and it only happens in the situation described above.

Any experience? Am I going to need a new clutch soon? Should I point-blank avoid using reverse like this?

    Thanks for your input!

To low numerically gear in the transmission and axle compounded with too tall of tire and I bet this happens on steep parking lots

Its because you're intentionally slipping the clutch. We all have to do it, since reverse is geared so high. I installed the @Up2NoGood 2wd low range mod to help with this issue. Possibly the best (out of very many) mod on my truck.

180,000 miles. I don't know if the clutch is the original. Probably? I don't have all the service records from the original owner.
