One of my friends just picked up a 99 EXT tacoma dirt cheap due to a problem in the transmission. The truck has a 3rz coupled to a w-59. He pulled the tranny and replaced with a different one and the symptoms the truck was having before are still happening, (i.e) hard going into gear, 3 & 4 sound like the tranny is getting ready to blow, sometimes when stopped the clutch locks up not letting it go into any gear for several minutes, but releases after pumping on the clutch pedal several times. We bled his clutch system twice and replaced the slave cylinder, and clutch master cylinder. I've heard of people having problems similar to this if the clutch disk is put in backwards. Anyone have any experience with this? The guy he bought the truck from told him that he had replaced the clutch about 2 months earlier and the symptoms started happening several days after the clutch was replaced.

I've heard the bushing for the shifter can cause problems going into gear, what if you try "lifting" up on the shifter and see what happens?
