I got my clutch replaced and now it doesn’t feel the same. It feels “softer” than it did before. Is this normal? It was replaced with oem parts at the dealership.

Part of the transmission removal is disconnecting all the hydraulic fluid line stuff for the clutch release. Probably still working air out of the system due to that.

I went with OEM parts for mine and now, it feels exactly like it did before…but only after a day or so of air working itself out of the clutch. Before then it was uber soft due to the air in the lines that is difficult to bleed. The system bleeds itself nicely over time.

That makes me feel better. It’s also reaching below freezing where I’m at, so I’m assuming that has something to do with how the fluid is moving through the system. Although it has been about 2 weeks since it was done.

That's a bit weirder then. I was assuming you just picked it up a day or so ago. Is the fluid in the reservoir at a normal level?

The cold temps usually will make the pedal feel a lot stiffer, in my experience anyways.

Dirty brake fluid in the clutch hydraulic lines can make the pedal feel stiffer.

It’s way stiffer in the morning and then softens up as I drive, once it warms up it still feels softer than it did before I got it replaced. I also read that this “soft”feeling is pretty common with new clutches and should slowly go back to normal. I guess only time will tell. The car is running and shifting normal, I just don’t want to be putting any unnecessary strain on the clutch.

And the reservoir is full. Should I try bleeding the system?

Do you mind sharing what the dealer charged you?

For a 2022 trd off road I paid a little under $3500. That’s from a dealership with oem parts in Arizona

I would definitely try bleeding it, just so you know for sure. Shops tend to be rushing when they put things back together, and the bleeding process was probably done in a hurry. There is often some air still in there that they didn't fully get out.

I bet bleeding it will firm it up.
When I did the accumulator mod it firmed up a little as well.

I doubt bleeding at this point will do anything. The system is essentially self bleeding and often times, bleeding manually actually makes almost no difference. It usually just takes a couple days at most to work out any last bits of air introduced from a job.

The freezing temps make a huge difference in clutch pedal feel on the Tacoma.
