Has anyone experienced any problems with the clutch? I have a 2008 5spd manual and I haven't like the shifting since day one. I make mention of it every time I'm at the dealer. One time I was trying to pass and I couldn't get the clutch to go into 3rd gear and had to fall back. They can never find anything wrong at the dealer.

    Thanks for any reponses.

Welcome to the club. I've had many clutch issues with my 08 Pre Runner 5 spd since new. Dealer has replaced throwout bearing, clutch pedal assembly & clutch pedal clevis rod assembly after that broke 3 months after pedal being replaced. I still have clutch issues which dealer either can't fix or find anything wrong. Now that my 3yr/36 mo warranty is up, maybe they will fix the problems.

Is there a TSB on the newer clutches?

Of course they come out with a TSB now that I'm at 39 months/37,700 miles. Thanks for the info. I will go to the dealer & get refused, then contact Toyota Customer Service. I've had problems since I bought new in April 2008. Asshats even documented on a repair order Feb 2011, "noise is from clutch disc." They told me it was a wear item & they could fix/replace for about $1300.00.

Brutal - I think you're close enough to the end of your warranty that you might just get it 100% covered. Toyota gives service managers a little leeway, so if you're nice - but firm and persistent - you should get some help.

Thanks. I'm always nice & non confrontational when I go there, even when I'm pissed & want to strangle them. Being nice definitely gets you farther in most cases.

So far I've added an Advance folding bed cover and since removed it. Gave it to my son in Maine, he has an 05 2wd. GT perfect fit seat covers. Weathertech floor mats and window vent visors. Waag center brush/grill guard. Hose clamp tailgate mod. Turned off the seat belt chime. Added Ultra-Gauge. Trailer hitch. Softopper. Replaced sun visors with slide out style. Toyota bed extender. Had Firestone Destinations and now Michelin LTX AT2 in stock size. More mods to come; Fog lights, locking storage in bed, intermittent wipers. Now looking for Radio/HU upgrade. and maybe a lift way down the road.
I had ball joint issues with Dodge dealer years ago. They had my complaints documented and I had copies. They ate the repair costs. Man were they pissed. Just don't let them off the hook.

thanks for the TSB. I've had complaints on my clutch since I got my truck so even with 88K they should repair it 100% if the problem is under this TSB.

Don't think I'd worry too much. Been 2 revisions to the 6-speed: one in 07 and one in 09. Heard both the shift forks & synchros are heavier duty now.
