Do you really think the factory drives them around to "break in the clutch"? Hold their feet to the fire. Personal opinion without driving it is fly wheel is not flat. Hold their feet to the fire it's not going to get better by it's self.

The clutch you posted was for a 2nd gen. I would assume that's not the clutch you installed?

A clutch of this performance level should not judder. Unfortunately, the description on the web page is kind of generic, and the picture, is that the actual type of clutch you received? This comes down to bad parts or bad install. The other choice is you were sold a clutch that is unsuitable for your application and desired characteristics.

The increased volume of the gear whine likely has to do with the sprung hub of the clutch disc. Being, presumably, that the springs and design are heavier and of a different design than stock. They won’t damp the gear train noise as effectively as the stock disc.

    Yep.
Lot of opinions coming from non LCE users, or even aftermarket "performance" clutches.

OP, this is normal for your clutch. Have the Dual Comp installed (45k+w/ decent wheeling time) on the 2TR and the full-stop takeoff and reverse will buck like a pissed off bull. The best advice I have is to keep the RPMs low as possible during engagement. Let the clutch grab - do not slip it - then go. Think of this clutch as an ON/OFF clutch... one of the biggest complaints out there with these. Personally, once I adjusted my habits the truck is "judder" free on a flat surface and minor inclines. Can't get around the jerk on a heavy incline though.

Just for reference; machined OEM flywheel, all new hardware, pilot bearing, quill shaft, slave cylinder, OEM/LCE installs followed to the letter, etc. Done this since day one and I still like this clutch. It's not OEM, or even an OEM replacement, so don't treat it like one.

Thanks for the response. Good info. You've got the dual comp though which is more aggressive the the Pro kit. When I got the consultation from LCE prior to purchase, they explained the Pro wod act like stock with just a little heavier pedal feel. That's why I went with it over a more aggressive clutch. I'm still getting used to it and know I'll need to modify my old habits to suit the new setup, just wanted to know if this is to be expected.

Still with Ishsbz on this though. Going to have another tech drive it and get their input.

Thanks for all the responses, guys.

I will get this thread updated since I didn't see many on the topic.

Yes they are grabby but generally that has a tendency to stall the engine. Frankly you don't need it unless you are into truck abuse.

If anything but a sintered puck clutch chatters, it’s a POS clutch or it was not installed correctly. Even a sintered clutch shouldn’t chatter…they just grab harder.

performance parts should not act like worn out stock parts. The OE clutch on my 2016 chatters when cold…because it needs a clutch. …. Or maybe I got lucky and it turned into a performance clutch at some point over the last 20K miles. Lol

that being said, I’ve had plenty of road race cars making over double their factory horsepower….and I used a stock type clutch without issue in all of them. A few got a center force because it was easier to look it up, but still never a hint of chatter.

Thanks for this. I mean, I hear a lot of folks saying this is normal, but the truth is, I have no clue what procedures they followed with their installs.. The might not have followed spec, had faulty parts or reused flywheel, tons of different variables. Someone just saying it's normal isn't of much to go on...

I did talk to the guy who did the install again and asked him if he did a run out on the new flywheel and he said "no, it's straight from Toyota..", should be good. We'll, f###, it's not like everything is caught BY QA/QC before going out the door. Without doing that, you don't know what you've got..

I’ve had clutches that are more grabby—but not chatter. I have no idea what’s going on with your clutch but I’m thinking someone grabbed the disk with greasy hands. That’s just my guess though. I inside the installer is hoping that’s it and it will wear off.
