Hello I have a 5spd 4.3 4x4 1997 tacoma with 120k miles. My mom occasionally takes my truck to work and the other morning she said it wouldn't go into first. I asked if it was in 2h and didn't get put to nuetral somehow and she said the lever was inbetween 4h and 2h. (reversing the truck in this state sounds detrimental to the health of the transmission) She said she drove it to work and back with no issues (around 80 mile round trip), until she was driving through town she said it wouldn't go into first. To get going again she said she gave it gas and lugged in second (im also assuming this cant be good for the transmission) . Got in this morning and truck wouldnt go into first clutch pedal felt soft. I think it's a bad clutch? I have heard exedy and centerforce clutches are good choices and does anyone have advice for doing this at home?

    Don’t go AM racing clutch
    OE best choice

    but
Like jjsinaz states could be CMC
Look at clutch MC reservoir fluid level…correct level? Black color instead of clear gold color?
    Puddle under truck?
Does clutch pedal drop to floor or you can wiggle with hand(not stiff/stationary)
