Guys have had my truck for about a month and my clutch pedal puzzles me.

WOT or 3/4 throttle freeway merges I feel like my pedal is staying on the floor and then smacking the bottom of my foot a delayed second later...

Power delivery is just messy on this truck. It goes from no go to the power surge at about 4000 rpm..

I don’t drive this truck hard but when I need it to merge I don’t want it to feel like an 80’s Yugo (exaggeration... but I think you’ll get what I’m saying)...

Things just feel so out of sync. Who the fuhkc road tested this truck during development and decided that this was acceptable.

    Rant over.

Does the clutch accumulator mod fix my clutch issues mentioned above? I guess if I’m paying $770 for OV tune to fix the powerband I might as well address the clutch pedal feel also

I wonder the same about buyers who miss this kind of stuff on their extensive pre purchase test drives.

Assuming the truck has no issues with it, the truck is fine.

What gear are you in when you merge ?

What were you expecting, a truck with BMW performance?

I usually merge in 4th or 5th gear depending on the length of the ramp, no issues.

I was expecting a truck that drives normally not like something out of soviet Russia in the 1980’s . Did you read my post?

I ask because 55 is 3rd gear In the power band. Which most people who complain about power fail to identify.

I have an insanely short ramp which I imagine has to have an exception with the state in regards to engineering , that I take every single day.

Zero issues merging. Zero issues missing shifts. None with rev hang. Not redlining it. Pretty enjoyable to drive

Need some tips on how you need to adjust to learn to drive the truck?

The popping sounds like you live in a cold state and it hadn't warmed up yet

Edit: which is typical of MT trucks, not exclusive to toyota

Get the accumulator delete. It helps with feeling the clutch grab and doesn’t allow the slippage that the accumulator allows.

Its a car motor, used in the Camry, Lexus, Avalon, etc. It has a power band in the upper revs, the cam timing switch points are high, and needs to be driven that way. If you shift it down low and don't get the revs up you will get what you are complaining about. Try running a gear lower than you think you should and I bet you will see your problems greatly reduced.
