Currently in the single digits around here,

Truck has 800 miles on it and the clutch pedal is sticking to the floor on startup, and will eventually return on its own. Seems sticky after that for a bit.

This was an issue on a first gen I had, and although it was more pronounced it ended up being the clutch slave cylinder that was leaking and not allowing the system to maintain pressure.

Could this be the same thing here, or is this just the fluid toyota uses?

My 09 does the same thing. I'd say it is just the fluid being "thicker" in cold weather.
Mine feels like it sticks for a second or two and returns up slow.
    No leaks on mine.

No issue as it returns to normal feel in a few minutes.

My 2003 TRD OR did this...can't remember the cause but the dealer had to replace a bushing or something.

Several other members on this forum are having the same issue including myself, here's a link to another post about it.

Does warming the truck up for 5-10 minutes before driving help?

It's been in the 20's here this winter and the clutch pedal feels like a bunch of pudding when you press it down. I wonder sometimes if it will snap back. Strange.

I had the same issue. Seems like it's gotten a little better after 4k miles.

I'm not in extreme cold, but i can see the same thing, just less of it. in 20-30F it's a bit sluggish back to the top. wonder if changing the fluid could benefit?

One year ago when my truck was new, it experienced the same slow response. Today it was 18 degrees out and the clutch was normal. Maybe it has a break-in period.

Mine has improved slightly with 23000 miles. Still sluggish on sub 20 degree weather but not as bad.

My 08 did not do this because the Clutch shared the Brake Fluid Reservoir, my 15 is a little slow in the cold after sitting a few days because the Clutch Reservoir sits out on the fender and is more exposed to extreme temps.

Has anyone gotten any resolution on this? Mines been back to the dealer. They changed out the master and slave cylinders and the issue remains.

Try removing the spring on the clutch pedal. Shove the pedal to the floor and hold it and you can slide the end of the spring out of the pedal slot with some effort. Make sure you grab the bushing on the other end of the spring in case you choose to reinstall. This spring assists you when depressing the pedal but also adds resistance to the pedal being able to return back up.

I have a mild issue with this in temps between 5F and 20F - def related to the fluid viscosity.. But, I am curious for those to did the ADM delete if their clutch performance changed at all in the cold?

@tonered would the 'delete package' you developed have any impact here?

    Thanks!

Folks have said that the ADM helps just a bit with the cold start pedal issue. It is not a complete cure.

On my side with our recent cold snap (high teens in the afternoon), it was the first time that I felt the soft pedal starting up from work to go home. It took a while for it to feel normal but gave me no other issues with shifting.

I wonder if DOT 4 LV (low viscosity) is compatible with the clutch hydraulic system? Viscosity at -40 is half of DOT 3 specs.
