Clutch pedal Stuck to floor

Clutch pedal sticking to the floor and not returning in my 16 SR 2.7 MT. Doing it randomly. Truck has 60,000 miles on it.

Inspected it and lubed today, visually it all looks ok. Nothing Broken or missing.

Looked into the Creak/Squeak pedal TSB, and toyota support.

At this point I am thinking about buying a new pedal assembly and trying that as a fix.

I have a video of it but can't upload.

Has anyone else had this issue and what did the fix turn out to be?

 

Clutch master cylinder might be going out. Or the clutch slave cylinder on the trans..

 

How old is that fluid ...

 

changed it out once at ~25 k miles. I doubt that has anything to do with the issues I am having.

 

It is likely a failed slave or master then.

 

Does the clutch work but not return or does it not work and not return?

 

Clutch works.. pedal is not returning while driving at Random...

There is normal tension in the pedal.

 

For Creak/Squeak TSB 0112-19 I have been quoted $950 at the local Toyota dealership. See photo below.

It seems to have most everything i need though for the repair? Likely no help from toyota, would be all out of pocket for me.

Also, does anyone have any good online sources for Toyota OEM parts? Might order them myself and have personal mechanic do the work. not sure yet.

I bet its the Clutch master cylinder on the fire wall.

 

visually it looks okay. I wonder if it is worn out though and not functioning properly.
I belive new one comes with the new pedal assembly..

Thanks for everyone chiming in. As of now i am thinking new fluid, new master cylinder, and new slave cylinder. Start there and see what the results are.

I'd start with the (easiest thing) first.
I don't know if the slave cylinder is on the outside or inside of the trans on these trucks.

all joking aside, that string above^ saved my Arse yesterday. Pedal started really acting up on me while driving home. Stuck right to floor. Was using the oem toyota clutch pedal return string for every shift. My truck is now at my mechanics house to be fixed. Skipping the dealerships and the TSB.

 

Let us know what he figures out…..

 

Problem solved! That's some quality redneck engineering right there!

 

I mentioned slave cylinder as the cause, because my 2002 Camaro had the same issue. I could shift, but as soon as the pedal went to the floor I had to pull it back up with my foot to use it for the next shift.

It worked for a short while, but I ended up replacing everything (clutch, pressure place, throw out bearing, pilot bearing, slave cylinder and master cylinder).

Just replacing the slave would have been good enough though.

 

Master cylinder and slave cylinder bboth replaced, new fluid, system bled. She is smooth as butter now. Makes me wonder how long I had something failing for. Because it feels like this is the best the clutch has ever felt since I have owned the truck lol which is since new
