Clutch problems

Last night it started. My truck is an ’05 TRD Sport with 158k mi. when I push down on my clutch it feels fine, but when I let go it lags behind my foot and then lets go all at once. This makes it hard to drive and I think it will only get worse. My question is, is this a problem with the master cylinder, slave cylinder or clutch plate. I guess it could also be the pressure plate. If anyone has had this happen to them please let me know, also if anyone could tell me what to expect to pay for a clutch replacement that would be great. Btw I do tow a 5000 lb boat with my truck, and spend a lot of time off road.

 

It will get worse, so look at it as an opportunity to put in a better assembly. HR clutches kick ass. Good luck.

10 to 1 it's the throwout bearing binding up. I had a Civic do that once about 7 years into its life. The nose on the tranny had the grease dry up and it caused that exact problem.

Found out I replaced the clutch unnecessarily on that one. Honda CV boot grease on the nose, smooth as silk for years.

Can't say I'm surprised, your truck likely has the old revision fork and throwout bearing that wears the nose more. I bet you'll be looking at the URD bearing soon.

Clutch problems are *usually* failure to release, or slipping caused by wear or a blown pressure plate, not a delay in engagement. Usually.

Anyone wanna second my opinion?

just found out that it is the clutch master cylinder. thank god its only a $112.67 fix! i might just do a DIY
