hi everyone, I am considering buying a 2006 PreRunner 4cyl/5spd manual. It has 194k miles on it but it's pretty good looking truck overall. It runs and drives great, but the only problem is the clutch... for some reason the clutch pedal has to be pressed all the way to the floor to disengage the clutch, and then it engages after letting off of it the slightest bit. Simply letting off of the pedal an inch starts the truck moving. Does this sound like the clutch is bad, or is there a way to adjust the pedal?

Also, the mileage does concern me.. about how long do these 2.7 engines typically last before they start burning oil or spinning bearings? I revved it up a few times and didn't see any blue smoke from the exhaust. The guy is asking $8k firm, and honestly ive never spent that much for a vehicle with such high miles, but I do like this truck.

I have an 05 PreRunner 4 cyl with the same amount of mileage and my clutch doesn't do that. That doesn't sound like its just an adjustment in the clutch either. $8K is a awful lot for that, I would say $5K max. Mine is running fine and expect to go well past 200K but it is using some oil though.

Yeah, it seems like a lot to me too, but I'm just not familiar with what these trucks are worth. NADA says $8k but KBB says $6,500. Not sure which one to believe.

edit: I called my credit union and they said a retail value of $10,900 and a trade in of $8,300. He told me not to go by what KBB says. I forgot to mention in my OP that it's an access cab.

195k miles on my 2.7 and no problems with the engine whatsoever. These engines are pretty bomb proof. Like always, I'd have a mechanic give it a look before you buy, and the price might be a bit high but tacos often sell at rediculus prices, so it's more based on what you are willing to pay than on blue book value.

hmmm didn't know that, so my truck is worth more than I thought. It is running strong as can be though. I just switched over to high mileage oil, changed spark plugs, new air filter, and changed rear diff and manual trans fluids and greased u-joints
