    Hi there,

Just had my 2008 2.4L undercoated for the winter here in Ontario - driving away from the joint and shift into 4th gear entering the highway (2000 rpm) and the clutch starts slipping. The truck continued to do this the rest of the day. I'm hoping this is not the clutch problem/TSB I've been reading about here because my girl is at about 130k and warranty is off the table. Could the muppet who sprayed oil under my truck have overdone it and gotten oil into the clutch somehow causing it to start slipping or is this just a ridiculous coincidence and my clutch is effed?

It only seems to slip in 4th gear when I step on the gas pretty hard at lowish RPM. Any chance this oil will burn off? Should I try to use some brake clean? Any help/ideas are greatly appreciated.

brake clean on the clutch disc and flywheel surface should do the trick .
Let the brake clean dissipate before running the truck mind you as it is flammable stuff

I have not but the slipping is only in fourth gear - every other gear seems to work fine

Do I have to take apart the clutch to accomplish this or can I have my lady friend work the clutch while I spray brake clean in/around the clutch housing?

my question is how the oil managed to get on the clutch as the bellhousing is sealed up fairly well or could this be an early warning that your clutch is done . Best bet is sliding under the truck and have a peek to see if oil is dripping out of the bellhousing .
I beleive you can remove the rubber boot on the slave cylinder and shine a light inside the bell . If it looks like fresh oil in there , chances are the clutch is now very well lubed .
