Clutch won't engage at all. What broke?

Did you try 2wd again? Maybe the transfer case just got bumped into neutral

Oh yeah, I checked that box myself probably 20 years back while trying to go hunt the whitetail rut at 0 dark 30 in the morning when my Taco would not move because I had bumped the J shifter for the Tcase into neutral. Live and learn.

 

J Shifter in neutral is an additional feature of that millennial anti-theft device

 

Put it back into 2WD and it works now. So I had somehow bumped that shifter for 4WD into neutral and didn't know it? Yeah, that's it, because when I went out to put in 4 wheel drive I hit the button and nothing happened so I moved it down to 4 Hi. So it appears problem solved. Thanks for all the suggestions.

 

Best fix is a free no parts fix.
