CMC help in the Bay Area, CA

Hi there,

I own a 19 Tacoma 4 door want to put some 285’s on but I want to do a cmc first. I got a quote from a local off road shop at $400 which I felt was a little steep. I wanted to see if any members on TW have done this and would be willing to help me out. I’m out of Hayward, CA willing to drive a couple hours to get it done. Thank you in advance for any help.

Thanks for the tag Rick, but I’m about 5 hours south of OP.
$400 is steep for a CMC, but my advice is to ask to see examples of previous work. Some people pay a lot of money for shit work because they don’t know any better. There are a lot of members here that can do a clean job for less than $400.

Good luck. Milo does great work from what I’ve seen and I’m sure there are other guys near you that can help.

 

Heavy metal offroad in livermore might be an option.

 

I can tell you how to cut it then just find a welder to weld the plates on. I have done a lot of them.

 

I'm in the same boat too. I tried both Milo and mark, they are both out of commission right now. I've made an appt with stellar off road in Sacramento for $300. They provide the plate and paint TouchUp.

 

oh dang! I was going to have Mark do my lift but just seeing when he’s ready to take on more work.

So are you going to go with the shop you found?

 

I think some charged $150 cut and welded plate.... $400 jesus

Most of them are in Socal I think Milo is the only person I Know of in Norcal. I try contacting him via text no reply (last week)

I would do the cutting myself and have my buddy weld a plate for me. I forgot what company sell premade CMC plate. $15ish

BAMF has the plates for 16 bucks.

 

You guys can try Mark and Milo again but I've tried. Milo is apparently moving/remodeling of some sort and Mark has family to tend to. I'd leave them alone until they say they can take on work again. Yes, I made an appointment with Stellarbuilt Offroad. I've never gone with them before but they were recommended on one of these threads. I've called them and always goes to a voice message that is full (I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not). I've had better luck e-mailing them through their website and they reply daily.

 

There are mobile welders that advertise on CL that can do the CMC. Just make sure you have plates and an idea of what you want done.

 

That’s an idea but I almost rather it be someone who has made that cut before.
