First post here. So if I missed this in a former thread forgive me.
I was in a shop yesterday looking at lift options to get 33’s under my truck. When I asked about needing a Cab Mount Chop, they told me that the 19 Tacoma’s had an improvement done so that is no longer needed.

Anyone else hear about this change for 2019’s?

    Welcome!

That's not a thing on the 2019s...all the 3rd Gens are the same. Plus if they couldn't specifically tell you what that change was, they're full of it.

you can go 33” on stock OR and Pro suspension if you get a tire that’s 255/85/16 or 255/80/17

Anything that’s wider than those (like 285s) will rub without lifting / chopping / hammering

Not a ton of choices for those sizes but the Cooper ST Maxx is pretty popular. I like mine a lot. Got them in 255/85/16

    Check out this thread

Seems like without a lift though those tires would still rub when off roading? But I guess my main question was about the change(if any) for 2019. I find it hard to believe also, but they said they had done quite a few 2019 lifts recently.

Check out that thread I linked. Plenty of examples of no rubbing even at full-stuff off road.

Good to know. I’d still like a little lift, but sounds like I shouldn’t have issues. I’m running 18’s for now. But might be able to fit a 255/70/18 on no problem.

I think you'll be alright with 255/70/18s....they're the same 255mm width (10") and a full inch shorter overall

The offset of the wheels will play a role too.

Naked farmer: Yeah-that’s the frustrating part of lifting and going bigger. All the variables that can play into it driving me crazy! With my offset at+10 I’ll be okay with skinny I think. If I go with a 265/70/18 I might have issues.

I appreciate that. My preference is not to chop. That is why I was hoping the shop was correct about the 2019 “update”. I know there are ways without chopping. But from what I read there is always a chance it will be needed to not rub. I probably would be okay to just stick to 32’s. But I like the option of going up one more inch.

    What hasn't been modified?
Toyota did chance the cab mount, kinda, there is an extra reinforcement in the mount. But it’s in the same location as the 2nd gen. I’ve done a bunch of cmc on 3rd gens.

If you wanna run 33” look into adjustable uca’s Like spc and Shound be able to get it where ever you want without chopping
