Has anyone done this install on a ‘17 yet? The rivnuts don’t fit into the little square...reminds me of trying to fit a round peg in a square...

They will fit. Rotate them and might need to put a little pressure to pop them in the hole(before anchoring them in with the tool)

I had to lightly and gently tap them in with hammer. I found no other way to get them in. My truck is a '17 as well.

Exactly. They are a little snug to insert at first. Which is actually what you want for a good tight anchor.

'Installed today. I had to tap a bit harder than I was expecting, but the install was cut and dry. First rivnut took me longer to figure out than the remaining three combined. Took about 30 minutes including removing the factory handles. Awesome product @mesojdm.

I’ve noticed some tolerance variation on installing the rivnuts. Not sure if it’s on Toyotas end from manufacturing, or the rivnut itself.(example; mine just required a little wiggle and they snapped in, others are needing to lightly tap them with a hammer) regardless, once they are locked down..they aren’t going anywhere.

Seems functional for those who need additional storage space.
I assume it will come in black? I would want it to blend in with the interior color as opposed to being so noticeable/in you face bright.

I work for automotive stamping company and generally a square slot like that will have +/- 0.5mm tolerance, so there could be a total of 1mm variation. A big hammer can always overcome that

Installed mine today after letting the Steel-it coating cure over the weekend. The Steel-it is a nice stain almost matte finish dark grey color that matches the headliner very nicely. Also have the first set of attachments consisting of two Black Multicam pouches and a custom Black Multicam Trauma pouch with red accents from a local custom gear maker in San Diego. Also opted for a different take on the grab handles, however I will need bigger washers to cover the eyelets better.

Thank you! I made the decision to use MC Black gear for this truck after seeing your Grom Build :D

Current setup so far. Still waiting on dump pouches. I made a mistake by using inches to plan out the rack rather than the Molle holes. Still waiting on two dump pouches that should be delivered tomorrow, but this is where I’m at so far. I’ll probably have to shave one dump pouch and then leave the far left angled section for the fire extinguisher, but still happy with it. Utility pouch next to radio has compass, radio charger, extra battery and what not. H2O section holds an entire 1.5L Nalgene inside with more to spare in the front pouch. Will probably add sawyer mini water filter. Second utility pouch will probably hold multitool and the trusty extra roll of toilet paper and probably some wet wipes. Extremely happy with it so far. Should be back in the truck after delivery tomorrow.

Looks good! Did you weave any of the molle through the front facing row of holes? (The offset smaller ones) Trying to do something similar but want to make sure I get it as snug as possible.

    I did not.

Unfortunately I found that most of the snaps would not fit through those holes. So Meso, something to consider for future runs.

But everything is woven in there nice and tight. I just took it out of the truck and grabbed a pair of needle nose pliers. Took maybe 15minutes.

Got the rack installed a week or so ago. Put quick fists in this weekend to store snow shovel and brush, in the summer there will be an axe and dirt shovel up there. Works perfectly!!
