^ ya not a bad idea, but I think the current design is more adaptable.

    It's installed. And its Tan!:goingcrazy:
I have also figured out the mounting solution. Unfortunately, When you take off the handle(or hooks on mine),, there is square non-threaded hole. FAIL.
So, I installed a blind nut insert. This locks into the hole(very secure) and provides a threaded section to bolt the rack to.

I am very happy with the fitment. about 1/8" off the headliner. Only thing left is to get some black Anti-theft HEX bolts and install a 1" spacer between the rack and mounting location
    [IMG]

    Don't mind my dirty healiner:p
    [IMG]

BTW anyone curious how a long gun would work out.. I threw my 16" 300blk Ruger on and it's a tight squeeze. [IMG]

I sat in the back seat to see if my head would hit, (i'm 5'7") and had plenty of room. Actually the rack is more forward, so even a tall person would have clearance.

I was looking at the ceiling space on my double cab with sunroof and I think this might just fit!

    I also have grab handles.

Wanna send me one? I'll see if it fits and also make the proper holes for the grab handle bolts to mount.

Afterwards I could ship it back to you or take detailed measurements so you can make more for grab handle trucks?

Perhaps several elongated grab handle mounting holes in the panel so users could slight alter the panel position to tailor thier needs?

^might take you up on that. Now just need to find a 2nd genner and we can pass this thing around like a cheap hooker:)

Are you sure your rear handles bolt in??
I don't think the OEM handles will be able to be retained because(I think) they are a press fit snap in with clips. If that is the case, the holes will be taken up by the rack bolts.
I do have some of these coming, which should work perfect using he built in eyelet and the bolt will go right though to secure.

Love the rack and the American Predator, I'm currently shopping for one in 6.5. I'm also super interested in a rack if one works with the moonroof.

right on! Bought my first house over in edgewater. Maybe we can test it on your 2nd Gen sometime.

Made a new one today to be a test fit mule. Put it though the sander for that brushed aluminum look. Looks pretty cool

So here is how they are anchored::::

Stock square holes. Nothing to mount to:

I marked the center of each one with a sharpie. This will help line up the threaded insert

The tool: (if you notice, the nut it sitting on the end ready for install)
I would have preferred a rivnut. Only problem is they only work well in round holes.
Since we have a stupid rectangle hole, I opted for a "blind jack nut". These flare out and crush internally which sandwiches itself to the metal roof. Thus providing a nice sturdy, and threaded hole.

    INTO THE HOLEEEEE
    [IMG]

All done! These are 1/4-20 thread and fit perfectly snug into the hole before locking them in
    [IMG]

1 word of caution. these are (semi) permanent nuts. So if you ever wanted to go back to stock (handles or hooks) they would have to be drilled out.

P.S I got some prices for laser cut so the ball is rolling on getting them produced.
Most likely be cut, bent, black powdercoated, and hardware included. You would have to install the lock nuts as shown above ^^^^
