Agree for sure, although they do use a large chunk for that Shopsabre mount (even if it's ugly)

I really dig STV's components myself

I feel like I failed in reporting this, but I had to call it for my table build. I was just getting so frustrated with everything and felt like I had to shut it all down and start fresh.

I am thrilled to report that I found a VERY lightly used Crossfire XR local. I got it picked up and in the basement but still need to level it. I also need some water table fluid and wasn’t sure what everyone is using? I haven’t even turned on the tablet yet but this thing is amazing. I did get the 65 torch cable routed and into the holder but not completely setup yet.

    Nice!

I've seen a few pop up recently, one for as little as $3k on the group and for local pick up in Texas while another posted for $5k on the east coast.

Seems a few bit off more than they can chew - what are you going to do with the control box/panel you have? I'm thinking of making a small setup :anonymous:

I put it up on Marketplace. I have a guy coming tomorrow supposedly. If he doesn’t want it then I will reach back out. I didn’t even think to list it here. It is all the Command CNC Linux Bladerunner G5 with mostly all current boards in it. I updated all but one. It is the new Super Z II Torch Holder with integrated DTHC. Also the table I bought came with a Hypertherm 45XP to cut three things and a new Duralock machine torch. I don’t need it since I am using my 65 and torch isn’t even compatible. Finally, the Command CNC new mini PC and monitor, keyboard, mouse.

Here is a good reason to run the gantry wider than the table. this looks like a fairly simple thing at least from the mechanical side.

Also plan for an air scribe, you know you want to.

That's what I meant, but figured I'd just run a separate controller.

I have two plasma cutters and two machine torches so :anonymous:

So does everybody just run plain tap water?

In addition, do you ground the table as well?

I use tap water, but I drain and clean the pan more than is really needed.

My table is grounded via the torch ground.

I have noticed no EMF interference. My structure is well grounded, so the controls are well grounded as well.

playing around a design for the mount that will hold the air scribe.

    air scribe mount 3d print.jpg

Running a test print on the 3d printer to see how I like it, and how it fits on the air slide.

Can be useful before milling out some solid aluminum for sure (and cheaper)

I’ve seen printed dimple dies form steel… it’s for more than just testing!

    Seen those!

Have you seen the tube bending dies?

Those are available too and the printed die just gets sandwiched by two metal plates.

That’s awesome. They won’t last forever but so what. Print another! I’ve experimented a little with printed patterns for casting. Also works really well. The print burns out clean.

FWIW if you are even close to spending 1k on a printer just get a bambu. It is so much better than anything else. We’ve run everything under the sun at our highschool any the time and pain working with Enders and prusas or even ultimakers is not worth it. At least if you want to just print and not dick around.

Oh Bambu is on the list.

That and some other one (think it starts with an M?).

It's like someone put it - you get a Bambu if you want to get into 3D printing, or you get an Ender if you want to get into 3D printers

I just picked up a QIDI Q1 Pro, and so far it has nearly plug an play. like anything it will require some tuning of print setting for the various filament's, but out of the box is pretty good. I wanted the Bambu mainly for the AMS, then I found it doesn't support any carbon fiber filled filament. an that was a deal breaker for me the

Bambu has a carbon model :spending:

I've eyeballed it for a bit because I want the ability to print some strong parts.
