Mines homemade and looks a bit rough. I like using the G540 controller. It's pretty ancient, but it works just fine with Mach3.

You should leave one or two to show what you are trying to achieve...

    Fucking exactly!

You now know how the things "tick"!

I regret nothing on how much I spent vs buying "turn key".

After that troubleshooting I went through, I know every in and out of my setup now

A turn key setup just provides convenience that's all; home-brew gets you amazing bang for the buck and a much larger table for sure.

I am going to change up the design a bit, I am going to use 2 pieces of 3030 extrusions to bolt the linear rails to an these will be attached to the 2x2 steel frame that will act as the base, and the eventual water pan support.

The gantry will be 3060, an I will use more 303 extrusion to support the gantry, unless I can find some nice aluminum plate drops at the local metal supplier

I decided on the extrusion for a couple of reasons, biggest one it should be easier to shim to make it sit flat an square to the gantry. second, less drilling an tapping ( I am dealing with a forearm injury) and lastly Tnutz is having a decent Black Friday sale, the recent overtime will pay for nearly all the parts I will be ordering. lastly, making it easier and faster to assemble will motivate me to make some real progress on the table itself.

Plenty of other manufacturers use extruded as it bolts up nice and square against itself.

Whatcha using for the drive system?

Saw the planetary gears/setup on the STV and was like holy shit

@Pyrotech great looking build. I will be back here for help soon. I am trying to finish up the outdoor stuff before the snow. I plan to give it one more college try this winter. I have been frustrated for a solid couple years now trying to get software and switches setup properly. @Kwikvette and @koditten, also. I will be forever in your debts for any assistance. I will reach back out but closely following.

When you say "switches", are we talking break out board switches or safety switches?

I tossed my mechanical safety limit switches. I rely entirely on soft limits.

So easy to check, nothing to loosen up and I got rid of a bunch of wasted wiring ( wish I could get back the time I spent fucking with those limit switches).

I don’t want to derail the thread. However, I provide more detail later on and yes, thank you for that piece. I got so fixated with an exact square reference on the gantry. My torch holder was hot garbage though and now have a nice high end setup, ready to reengage.

I would hope the OP @Pyrotech would appreciate thread derailment as long as the topic had something to do with CNC.
