I've read that a c notch can brand your truck a salvage title? Is this just a rumor for people who are against it? I've read tons of stuff about it salvaging the title. How? Has anyone actually ever had a clean title and have it become salvage because of this? In pa we have yearly state safety inspection and emissions test required. And I can't see them actually looking for anything but rust on they frame and I highly doubt they even go about reporting it to the dmv.
If so how come all the 4x4 guys don't bat an eyelash about drilling holes mounting or welding sliders to a frame. Sounds like a good old fashioned "don't masterbate or you'll grow hair on your palms" kinda thing if you ask me. someone prove me wrong

Further, the more I even think about it they can't change your title if you have it. unless you write the truck off you sell it to the insurance company. Once they have it they can salvage it and when you buy it back THEN the title becomes a salvage.

The only way a title goes salvage is if the vehicle gets damaged and the insurance company deems it too expensive to fix.

The knowledge level of most people nowadays means they will have no clue what has been done to a vehicle's frame. If they were to even look at it they wouldn't know one way or another.

Notch your frame and kill your resale is just another internet lie repeated over and over until some believe it is true.

When a vehicle is damaged to the point of being 'Totalled' via insurance claim and reported to the state/dmv - the title will converted to a SALVAGE title. If you buy it back from the insurance company - and rebuild it - it could be converted to a RECONSTRUCTED title. In PA - lots of inspections before you are granted a reconstructed title.

But no...your title doesn't magically become a salvage title.

In terms of yearly PA inspections - There are LOTS of picky little laws that could possibly fail your inspection for having a C-notch DEPENDING on where you go. There are lots of inspection stations that are picky as shit and others....not so much.

The 'not so picky' garages look at modifications as...... there's no proof of when the modifications were done. They can't prove they passed the vehicle with an illegal modification. However..... when or if you get pulled over by the police - is a totally different matter.

You have to dig down into the PA inspection laws to get details (if you're concerned about it). http://www.dmv.state.pa.us/inspections/pub_45.shtml

Otherwise.... just find a decent garage who's not picky to inspect your vehicle yearly. We used to have a Jeep that could fail inspection on so many things. The key is...keeping it low key to not draw attention. If you have ONE thing that'll cause you to get pulled over.....the cops are gonna look for other things.
