This seems to be quite the debate. I've been using a 10# home brew CO2 system for more than a decade and haven't notices any issues, but then again I haven't been looking for them even if subtle.

I was doing some research on CO2 and it appears that it's permeability and diffusion rate is significantly higher than oxygen or nitrogen, meaning that pressure loss will be much higher with CO2. CO2 solubility in butyl rubber is much higher than the other gasses.

Currently I only use CO2 to top off and maintain tire pressure because it's more convenient for me.

Any chemists out there to shed some light on this ?.....

True to form, I'm probably overthinking this but I'm finding it interesting.

Yeah, you are overthinking this. You are already ahead of the curve by monitoring your tire pressure on a regular basis.

If you are checking your pressure often, it won't make any difference.

Keep on doing what you are doing.
