Ok a request for advice from all you coast guard guys. Sorry to thread jack, I can start a thread just for this if neccessary. Knowing what you know now after going through all of what you have, what would you change or do differently. The reason I ask this is because I am seriously considering enlisting with the coast guard. I am 24 years old with a bachelors degree. The reason for this and my main goal is to gain law enforcement enperience. It seems as if there is alot of opportunity for training and experience in law enforcement within the coast guard and it just plain sounds like an awesome experience. Local law enforecment opportunites are slim to none. Any insights, advice or comments will be much appreciated. Thanks a million

Well BT, I wouldnt change anything if i had to do it over again. I enlisted at 20 with no experience and no college. I wanted to do LE like yourself, and the Coast Guard has many many many opportunities in LE for people like us that have a desire for that career field. With your college you have the choice of officer or enlisted, my advice is go enlisted, get into the LE as much as you can by going with the Maritime Enforcement Specialist rating then go for OCS. This is of course my $0.02.

Being a SN/FN is very boring. It gets a lot better! Been in over 13 years and do not regret one day of it.
