For me I’ll be camping almost the whole way minus a a few stops. So my truck will be set up a bit different. I think it depends on how you want to go. I would for sure have a 5gl gas can some extra headlight bulbs and some basic maintenance stuff.

I plan on doing a half camping half motel trip, assuming it will take about 4 or 5 days. I agree a 5gl gas can and come extra maint stuff will definitely be needed.

I recently last week just did a 1/2 country round trip & the only issue was at a certain elevation where my ears would pop the truck would hang in a high rev & gear. It would come out of it by shifting into S mode I figured out. This was in the Smokey mountains & did it both times going through. This was also with the trans TSB update for "elevation" issues. Other than that the truck did great

I drove 40K in less than a year. That's like east to west coast every month. No problems. You will be fine.

The second gen went through almost every state. Several trips to MO from WA, several from WA to MT, move to NJ, trips to MA, move to HI, move to MT. With 117k miles the second never needed more then routine maintenance. No reason the third should have any issues.

What makes you think a 3rd gen would have problems going coast to coast? I don't even think its 2,000 miles of driving.

Make sure your spare tire has air.
Check fluids at each gas fill up.

    You should be alright.

Nothing in particular just wanted to know if anyone noticed anything during a longer drive like that.

Make sure the spare is aired up and go through the motion of changing the tire at home before you set out. If you practice this once or twice it will be very beneficial especially if you have a flat on the interstate at night. And don't forget a flashlight...have a good trip!!

Haven't gone coast to coast in a full go but have done Wisconsin to Florida, wisco to Virginia and wisco to New Mexico/Vegas/Cali.

All I can say. Gas can. We had a fun scare in my friends van in California . Saw a sign that said 99 mi and we're we are ok. Gas light came on about halfway into the 99 mi... Get to the 99mi and find out it's left or right another 30 or 40mi.... We were running on fumes. Since then we always take extra gas can!

My Kansas City to Padre Island to Houston to Kansas City trip is estimated 2400 miles. It's definitely a lot more than 2,000 miles of driving.

For me, the seats aren't that comfortable. Seat cushion may be in order for a long drive like that.

But as far as the truck itself, you can drive back and forth from coast to coast to your heart's pleasure and I can guaranty you will break far before the truck does.

I’ve done the drive across country 8x in various Toyota’s and one Subaru.

You can’t go wrong with a portable or installed air compressor, tire plug kit, torque wrench, extensions and appropriate sized socket for the lug nuts. The compressor and plug kit saved me out in the middle of Montana betweenness Billings MT and Sheridan WY. Also a fire extinguisher just in case.

Can’t go wrong with a quart or two of oil.

In all the trips I was never concerned about gas. There’s plenty of stations along the way.

220lbs of ballast in the drivers seat and custom nose art in the back windows.
Just did Destin to OBX (right at 2k) and back over 4th of July weekend with the wife and 60lbs mutt. Truck is a stock DCSB Off Road with mud tires, we ran OV Tuned 1.05.1 93 w/ Gear Lock and a hard bed cover. I would definatley get the front seat risers from EasyDoesIt and the tune. My last trip without the tune I got 16mpg at 70mph, this trip averaged 20 running 80mph ish and if I didn't use cruise I almost never had to come out of 6th. For the dog I removed the lower back seats and made a platform in the back for the mutt.

That's not that far so I highly doubt you'd encounter any problems. I drove to Alaska and back from SoCal in a hunk of shit Ford Escape that got lemon law'd and we didn't have any problems lol.

I drove from Denver to Omaha to Denver in one day, have appropriate tools for your truck and full tank of gas and you'll be better than hunky dory

LOL I would guess a Taco would hold up just fine. My Kawi Nomad did. I made 24,000 over 10 months time and hit about 40 states. On the trip I got new tires, and changed the oil. Bike shops did the tires, and I did everything else . I took Rt 50 thru Nevada and never carried a drop of gas ever as back up. Perhaps in your case you should avoid the Little Bighorn LOL "Someone back east must be sayin' Now why don't he write ?"

Only thing I would do is maybe get a seat cushion and some risers.
