wanted my fog lights back so i bought cheap little mounts and place them a bit lower on the bumper. will probably get rid of the mounts though and just drill/bolt through the bumper to recess them a bit, i just didnt want to do that originally. 20200207_144920.jpg 20200207_144915.jpg

Day one: chopped up my bed and removed rear bumper, this took WAY longer than we thought it would

@ColbyZarba I'm very interested in your rear bumper build, please keep us informed as you progress.

What did you use to cut the bed sides? Are you going to use some sort of edge trim?

Do you still have the black bumper ledge piece (not sure what its called) that goes just under the headlights? I'll be bending a piece of flat bar and bolting it to that for each side of the filler panels to mount onto. Haven't had time yet to do it yet though, but I know it'll work.

Will definitely keep ya updated. We just used an angle grinder. I thought about trim but not 100%. it looks pretty clean as is, but to prevent rust and what not in the future it may be a good idea.

Been eyeing Coastal's armor for a few weeks now with one question. Those of you who have them and have put them to use how do the shackle mounts hold up? Anyone put them to the test or wished the shackle mounts were thicker or do they have pretty decent tie in points?

I have their HC bumper and comparing them to other bumpers, I don't like the idea of 3x 3/16 plates sandwiched welded together and would have preferred a solid shackle mount instead. But having used it for a 3 snatch rope recoveries so far with no issues and looks like they are more than fine.

hey man, I was thinking maybe you should change the title of this thread to "Coastal Offroad Armor Mega thread" that way everyone can post up their coastal offroad gear since that's what it has turned into anyways lol Would be a good place for everyone to share info, ideas, and their armor builds.

I was reading 3/4" solid is the preferred cause they looked a little thin but when the kit is built for people with garage welders instead of metal fab welders its understandable. That's awesome though that they have held up through a few recoveries just fine! did you have any bending in the shackle pin after any of the recoveries?

No bending that I could tell. But I was thinking of adding some 1/4" triangle gussets to the shackle points for recoveries that arent exactly a straight pull

I know there can't be an "official" tow rating on the rear high clearance bumper, but is there a ball park rating? Assuming the kit was put together by an experienced welder with a good machine
