Right on, that's pretty damn handy. Do you not have any room on the passenger side of the engine bay to mount the controller?

You can get the Smittybilt w/synthetic line for less than that. I think I paid $400.

If you open the box up it should be just the solenoid and the winch remote connection leads. You can take that out and relocate that into a smaller package if needed. Just an idea

Ok so I CAN confirm a badland apex 12000 lb winch will in fact work in the coastal offroad high clearance bumper. BUT.... and it's a major but, it does require some...... messaging of the lower radiator support, alteration of the hood latch support, and the controll box needs to be gutted and internals mounted without it. I would recommend using a higher capacity/discharge rate battery. And a higher output alternator. Engine idle goes down while in use otherwise. 20200401_233443.jpg 20200401_233433.jpg 20200401_233423.jpg

I literally just did that. Huge load off my mind. It got so much easier after I did it. There is also the reciever for the winch remote in there too.

Any reason you didn't hook the cables leading to the winch directly to the solenoid that way you would off gotten rid of the copper bus bars?

Do you have any pictures of the ALLPRO armor and the coastal bumper?

I just had those cables cut and crimped already. And they were slightly too short. I'm getting a new set of longer 4/0 cable from work tomorrow just for overkill sake. As you can see there is one cable that is red.... I diddnt really care too much about it today I just wanted to test it before I took the time and made it look pretty. Lol.

It's gonna be a fun one! Gonna head straight to the shop after work for some mock ups and hopefully have most of it tacked together!

Go this far tonight.. took some time as I made some nice bevels with the pieces. Really sucked having to put back the stock components to drive home

    Edit: Overall intial impressions

Fast shipping and awesome customer service. I paid with echeck for some odd reason and it took a few days to clear. Brandon promptly responded to my inquiries and notified me of the order status almost daily. The kit was shipped Friday and tracking showed a Tuesday delivery. I got it today, a Monday.

Well packed and organized. Instructions couldn't be clearer after an infinite amount of reading and reviewing. I instantly noticed the cuts are ultra clean and smooth. Some high tech gear going on in that facility. Extremely satisfied and that was only from me unpacking it.

I stumbled upon some interesting deficiencies within the front frame. Its something I have seen before so today I also received a pair of SOS frame reinforcement plates. I also plan to run a C4 reinforcement bracket as well. The front area is shockingly weak at the mounting points.

I actually uninstalled the mounting plate and d-ring assembly to weld the winch mounting plate. My front frame caused the mounting plate to bow when mounted on.

Other than the typical fun grinding, measuring and crappy welding it was a relatively smooth process. Measure three times and cut once. More progress to follow.. I intend to have this finished and mounted with a winch and some ss3's by end of week!

I thought I'd posted this already. Just before the world shut down, a buddy and I got this bolted up. I had to bend the brackets on the exhaust hangers to keep the exhaust pipe from vibrating against the skid, and I don't love the gap visible from the side view, but for the money, I'm pretty happy with how this came out.

Some additional welding done today.. almost done with one wing, just missing 2 plates. I rubbed my arm against the bumper after welding and got a good blister going on.. doh.

Excuse the mess, it's the storage side of the shop.. looks terrible in the picture lol

you have the skid with the stock bumper? Could we see the offending visible gap?

Finished tacking it all together a few nights ago. Took alot of time to bevel the edges and ensure all measurements were consistent. At this point in time about 20 hours in. Just need to weld all seams, another lifetime of grinding, some paint and it'll be done.

Learned alot about my mig setup in the process. Was definitely a good learning experience to dial everything in.
