It got warmer in my garage, so I put the dif drop in. Tomorrow morning I'll see if the vibrations go away.

    Yay chasing!

During my regular commute this morning, the vibrations have gone away from 55-65, but reappear from 65 to 70. I think I have a balance issue, and will get my tires re-balanced. The harmonics I was hearing is gone though. The vibration does not come through my steering wheel.

Got the @OVTune files in today. Thanks Matt!

I'm going to flash it at 87 today during lunch, run that for the remainder of this tank while running 89, then reflash to 91 after a couple cycles of 91 in the tank.

    Success!

Flashed the 87 octane file this afternoon. I got a little freaked out at first while the flash was happening because every alert went off on the dash display. Restarted and idled for 10 minutes, then took it for a short drive (5.5 miles). Right away I can tell the difference, and can't wait to see what it does on the highway. I'll reserve my full opinion until after I finish this tank and one more for the 87 tune.

After I finish this tank, I'll fill up with 91 twice, then flash the 91 program.

    Flashed at 12:35 today
    Mileage: 23,279

    (personal record keeping LOL)

    Flashed using a Surface Go

Me too. I've had a hard time keeping 19mpg since putting the bed bars and ski rack on. Without those on, I was still getting 20.5ish. I only bought the bars to put a ski rack on, so they most likely will come off in the spring. In fact, the bed cover usually comes off in the good weather too.

Its probably going to be a month or 2 before I get to the balancing.

Are you having the same issue?

No, but I did have vibrations at highway speeds on my 2nd gen (one of my first threads on TW), and they were completely resolved when I shimmed the rear axle. I was initially worried about the balance on the wheels bc one or two of the wheels had a considerable amount more weights and it seemed like too much of a gap. But it was just the driveline angle.

Now with my third gen, I’m looking into suspension options and would like to be as prepared as possible for side effects like vibrations.

Shimming the rear axle is on the list. But looking at how many weights they put on my wheels, I have to wonder why they just didn't break the bead, move the tire on the rim, and try again. So I'm going to take it to the guy that did the alignment and see what happens.

After that, I guess 3* shims.

Thanks! The vibration isn't that bad, just noticeable.

Filled up this morning with 93 octane, and flashed the 91 octane tune.

Screw it. LMAO. Truck rides fantastic.

Flashed 91 file at 23,410 miles.

    Lift musings:

I think my truck has settled more than expected, but I need to take measurements to be sure. The truck just looks a bit lower in the front than I thought it would. It's not necessarily a bad thing, as I wasn't looking for a ridiculously tall lift (over 2" in the front), however, I think it settled lower than I expected.

I need to measure again, but I want to do it in the same garage I took post lift measurements, with the bed cover and rails removed (same configuration as the post lift measurements). However visually, you can tell there has been settle since last June:

    June - post lift:

    Dec - settled:

The rear looks about the same, but the front does not. I don't know, maybe it's just me. Anyway, I'll pick it up in a little while with the new vinyl on the hood and roof.

More pictures. The shop took these during the work and posted on their Facebook page as well.

In this picture, they did the cowl with a stripe on it. Looks kinda of cool like that, but I wanted all black out.

    This morning in the rain:

    Vinyl 2.jpg vinyl 3.jpg vinyl 4.jpg vinyl 5.jpg

I'm pretty happy with the job. I had the roof done as well not only to tie it together, but because I found some scratching up there. With the scratching were 2 chips in the paint. What I think happened? When I went to see Slayer at Mohegan Sun, it was valet parked. I believe the truck hit the max height bar light enough to not cause serious damage, but hard enough to chip the paint and cause a few scratches.

I think I am good to go for a while, besides maybe some little things here and there, but for now, all the major items are done. I've been thinking of swapping out the front springs from the 884 to 885, but have decided instead that I am going to wait until I hit 50k miles, then bring it to Main Line Overland and have them put in a 2" Dobinsons suspension kit.

Oh yeah, Northeast Auto Salon gave me some left over film to play with LOL......

    Updated page 1.

Also, I believe the Morels are well broken in now and the bass is incredible from them. You could (if you were so inclined) just run these with a 4 channel amp, and forgo a sub.....

This morning's picture. I had the opportunity to wash the truck and give it a quick once over with the F-11 Topcoat. I really like that stuff for a quick shine between waxing. I also took off the KBVoodoo bed rack with the ski racks. I won't be needing them until the end of next month, and I'm hoping my gas mileage goes back up.

    1-28-2019.jpg

    a couple of things though:

    1. I need to clean this up:

    panel clean up.jpg

I'd like to see if @mesojdm can come up with a way to make the door opener more flush with everything else.

    2. I'm going to be adding the GPS to my BlackVue DR590-1CH in the near term

    3. The OVTune has been fantastic so far.

    1. @mesojdm came through. Guy is a ninja, and I can't wait to clean that up.

    2. Hooked up the $25 GPS module to my DR590-1CH. Picture later. I like that dash cam a lot, and will probably add one like it to what ever car/suv/crossover my wife decides on.
