I can't take credit lol. My cousin is very meticulous. I asked him to show me how and I would do them, he said nope, I'll do it. Still lots of sanding to do.

All right, let's get into it.

    1. Moving the speakers from the OEM dash location to the A-Pillar pods made a huge difference right away. The speakers are closer to being "on axis".
    2. The ES-02EX speakers have a very crisp and natural sound. I need to re-adjust my time alignment to get the stage back to where it needs to be.
    3. I think there needs to be some minimal tuning in the DSP for these drivers - but I am still waiting on swapping out the door drivers (if I am going to at all, haven't decided)
    4. Aesthetically, the ES-02EX speakers are very pleasing to the eye.

Well, I'm switching gears now. Other than some light tuning that I haven't gotten to yet, I think I'm done with the audio (hahahaha right).

So I ordered a Carven exhaust. Still haven't gotten the JBAs installed...

Well, the OEM battery lasted 71,389 miles. Picked up a NorthStar/X2Power AGM Group 24F battery, and re-flashed w/KDMAXX AGM 7.0 regular. I have a little more bling for it, pictures later.

Carven exhaust comes in on Thursday (8/5) and will be installed that weekend.

I want to circle back to this. The exhaust sounds great, at idle. It's loud AF when driving. This may have been a mistake. I'll give it a couple weeks.

Congrats on the TRD 4runner! We've got a black one and except for the gas mileage and keeping it clean I like it much better than the Tacoma. :anonymous:

    IMG_3408.jpg

As far as exhaust goes, I found this YouTube clip a while back when I was thinking about swapping to something aftermarket or the factory TRD catback. Some of the clips are of 2nd gens, but each one is identified by time stamp in the video description.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzESQ3Zj4iI

I think MBRP and Carven are two of the loudest. I'd probably just swap the muffler for something else if you're unhappy with the Carven or have an exhaust shop weld in another resonator of some type. All exhausts will quiet some after you get some miles on them, but not a whole lot. Many years ago I had a first gen tacoma with a flowmaster 40 with the 2.7. It was fun for about 3 months and that's why I left the stock exhaust on my 2017 Tacoma.

I do like this trd catback with the URD y pipe though

I love the 4runner. In fact, I'm kind of jealous lol.

The exhaust note is getting better. It sounds fine at cruising. I have also seen my MPG go up a little (?).

I have a bunch of little things I'm going to be doing in the interior. Other than that, I STILL need to put the UCAs in......
