Whats a good product to protect the inside of the frame? Wax or oil based?

    Thanks,
    Tom

If it is a new replacement frame as mine is, I used 12 cans of the Eastwood internal waxy frame coating. I did amber inside and the black on the outside. They have a 24" extension wand with a fan spray nozzle that seemed to give good coverage. It still looks good inside where I can see, and the outside. Now on an old frame? I have no idea.

I rechecked my receipts, it was 14 cans total; 7 amber for the inside of the frame and 7 black on the outside.

I used an Eastman internal frame coating 12 months ago, paint based. Used 2 cans, might have used some of a third if I had it. No idea how it is working though...

Ahhh I see what you mean, I thought you mean you used 14 cans for just the inside! haha. Anyways guys, I decided to go with KBS Cavity Coater. Its a waxy based substance, and it goes on like the eastwoods internal frame coater. These guys make awesome products. My trucks frame looks great with their products.

so its like something body shops would use while reskinning a door panel for example? 3M makes something i have encountered, for the body shops to use on welds, etc

I'm a big fan of fluid film. Yesterday I sprayed, using 3 cans to hit everything that was easy and visible on ramps. Loaded up holes too. 14 cans is an impressive amount, I'll def have to up the ante come next fall.

I personally like the sheepy smell of fluid film, def prefer that to paints or other undercoating. Plus it's less nasty

Sure it does on those dry sunny days with no humidity !!

Gets rested for those liquid brine filled days of winter.

I don't think the Eastwood heavy duty anti rust product is used for reskinning stuff, though I could be wrong again. I thought it was to be applied/used the same way Fluid Film is used

Ok, it was the Eastwood heavy duty anti rust. I’ve put 135000 miles on the truck since I did this and still no rust. I can scrape spots with my fingernail and get a waxy buildup under my nail. Actually there is some rust, on the outside of the frame, on the ft section on the spring hangers. Really, really minor surface rust from road sand blasting it off, easy fix.

this here is what i recall seeing previously that i was thinking of in the moment

it would be nice if the Toyota body shop that reskinned the door on the Corolla in the early 2000s were still around
i think they did not even attempt to use this stuff or similar :(
