Hey guys, I recently had my check engine light come on and after bringing it to a garage they told me there was a code P0016 that was in. This is a camshaft/crankshaft positioner sensor fault. The truck runs perfect and has no trouble starting. I discovered a wire that was broken on a sensor next to the pulley wheel under the alternator on the driver side. Just wondering if this would cause that fault to ring in and if repairing the wire would clear the code.

That pic looks like your a/c compressor. The camshaft position sensor is on top of the engine on the head. One on each side.

So this shouldn’t be the problem? Where is the crankshaft sensor located?

I'm going to guess you have the 4.0L motor, in which case you need to have somebody with a capable scan tool graph the CAM/CRK correlation on bank 1, I'd suspect you have a stretched timing chain or a bad OCV.

Yeah it’s the 4.0 v6. Wouldn’t it run rough if it had a stretched timing chain? In was hoping that it was just a bad sensor where the truck runs just fine.

Maybe or maybe not, the computer has been compensating for the variance until it met the threshold for either maximum 45.2 degrees of crank angle or below 22.5 degrees of crank angle.
